Very nice glass calabash in aqua blue. One side features hands clasped across a patriotic shield surrounded by stars and olive branches and the word "Union". The other side is decorated with an American eagle grasping a banner, shield, arrows and olive branches. The calabash has a polished pontil on the bottom and an applied lip at the neck.
Origin: America, mid-19th century. Condition: excellent, no cracks or chips, nice molded detail, the pontil has some brownish surface discoloration...

The hunting scene shows a naked man with a spear grasping at a bird hidden behind a large ivy leaf which may represent the forest grove.
On the other side a woman with diminutive head and outstretched arms. Assuming that plants are denoted by contouring dots, she is standing next to three trees in her garden.
Figural depictions on this type of pottery are rare...
Antique Chinese opium container made from copper with silver, with a cloisonne lid, decorated with pink flowers on a deep blue background. Its front is engraved with a beautiful seated princess, and its back is engraved with Chinese characters reading " The best medicine of the West comes to the great East. Consume this opium and float like a celestial princess." Dated 1820-1850

A beautiful bronze paper weight in the form of a dog/lion. It is a very detailed casting in solid bronze with a deep brown patina. The shishi measures about 4" high x 6 3/4" long, it weighs 43 ounces, and it dates to the 19th Century. The condition is excellent with some casting flaws. The asking price includes shipping within the USA.
An American War of 1812 era military dirk by Dickson of Albany, New York. With engraved gilded brass sheath. Overall length: 14 inches. Pommel is a replacement, crack to hilt, minor rust to triangular steel blade.
This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in England by Coalport in the 1890s. The diameter of the saucer is 3 ½ inches and the cup is 1 ¾ inches high. The set has a fluted shape with scalloped edges. The ground color is sky blue enamel. It is intricately hand gilded with raised and beaded gilding. The interior of the cup, well of the saucer and handle are coated in gold.
Condition: The bottom of the cup has slight crazing in the glaze...

A small eggshell-thin dish with a decoration of two birds and two fan-shaped panels - one with a landscape, the other with a poem (?), all in a variety of colours, 19th c. Wing of one bird has been painted as to conceal a glaze bubble, an indication of age. Overglaze red marks: Hirado san, Mikawachi. Diameter "5 ½/ 13 cm. Condition: fine.

It is presented on its wooden base, also Chinese, which is either original or made during the 19th century. The base is left unglazed. No mark. A chip on the edge followed by a crack. A fine porcelain vase with two carps painted by Makuzu Kozan, also known as Miyagawa Kozan (1842-1916). The vase comes with a tomobako inscribed, signed, and sealed by the artist. Kozan's family originally produced fine tea ceramics for the imperial court during the end of the Edo period. During the Meiji period, Kozan moved his kiln from Kyoto to Yokohama to produce export ware. In 1876, Kozan exhibited his work at the Philadelphia World Exposition and his name was known internationally...
