Trefoil oinochoe depicting a nude satyr, also known as a silenus or silenos, typically portrayed as a male figure with ears and a tail, said to be resembling features of a horse, and with a large phallus, the sides decorated with floral design. 3rd/4th Century B.C. 5 1/4 inches high. An antique Khmer wood sculpture of Jayavarman VII /Mahā Paramasangata Pada), added to our family collection in 1930 from a private Japanese collection. It was made in mid 19th century.

Lacking any royal or divine attributes, this King Jayavarman VII statue represents a simple, spiritual man.

His facial expression is accentuated by semi-closed eyes, a slight smile, large forehead, lips that are neither thin nor thick, and long ear lobes...

Three Chinese Export flat plates from the Kangxi period. Decorated with the "100 antiques" motif in the Imari palette and gold. The rim in underglaze dark brown. Condition: minor wear to gold. Two plates with few tiny rim frits and flakes and with total 3 rim chips (see picture 10). Dimension: diameter: 22.5 cm.

Large and beautiful Burmese dry lacquer seated buddha, black lacquer with gold gilt, decorated all over with inlaid mirrors and colored glass, compassionate expression.

This is a square and heavily potted export plate, circa 18th century. On the cavetto of the plate, it has a band of flora design with roulette diapers and ruyi head all around. On the inner of base plate, it has a scene of a river with pavilion and houses surrounded with weeping willows and pine trees. Near the front of the pavilion, two people were seen engaged in a discussion and to the left of the pavilion; it appears like a lady is crossing the bridge...

A pair of Chinese blue and white porcelain cups. Nicely painted decoration of three flower arrangements on each cup - the bouquets respectively centering a peony, a chrysanthemum and a camellia bloom (appearing to represent blooms from different seasons.) The cobalt blue has a deep, clean quality. Late 19th to early 20th century. Condition is good - one cup with small flake inside the foot rim (illustrated.) Height each, little more than 2 1/4 inches (5.72 cm)...

19th century netsuke of a baying stag with its head turned back, its upper front teeth bared. Elegant carving with pure clean lines, excellent hairwork, wonderful depiction of volume of the deer body and his antlers, eyes inlaid in black horn, beautiful patina. Himotoshi is formed by its feet. Wonderful sculpture. Height 1 3/4 inches.

Bust of Buddha, his face reflecting a profound inner serenity. Bronze with encrusted dark and reddish green patina. Thailand, Ayutthaya Period, Ca. 16th century. Height: 8 1/4" (21 cm). The bust is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand. Good condition. NOTE: a bronze plate was welded to the back of the bust, probably early 20th century, to allow the bust to be attached to a former stand, now gone (see photos). Ex. old French collection.

A Qajar papier-mache penbox with painted decoration under a lacquered varnish. Showing the rose and nightingale motif "gul-u-bulbul", a popular literary and decorative theme in Qajar Persia. Provenance: a gentleman's collection, Geneva - Switzerland. Condition: traces of usage, small losses, some wear and cracking (please look at the photos carefully, they make part of the condition report). Dimension: c. 23 cm x 4.2 cm x 3.5 cm.

This is a Japanese antique Charming pattern kasuri ikat cotton child kimono. There is a light stain on the lining, but it is not noticeable. No damage, very good condition. A superb late 19th century first standard (950/1000 pure) silver berry spoon with a shell-form gilt bowl. These spoons were originally intended for serving strawberries. The front of the handle is decorated with a twisting wreath of holly leaves and berries, and the back with a similar wreath of thistles. The bowl is beautifully worked in the shape of a scallop shell. Improvements in agriculture and railways made strawberries widely available to the wealthy classes in the 1870s...

Antique Japanese teshoku candle holder made of bronze. A long handle makes it easy to carry a candle around for light as well as very stable when set down. Cut-out design is of a Hoju, the Buddhist wish granting ball...

Interesting 11 cm. tall Roman marble fragment, weighing c. 630 grams.

The piece could look like an animal ear, but is probably from folds on a toga. A nice and inexpensive Roman sculptural art in marble.
