An antique Khmer wood sculpture of Jayavarman VII /Mahā Paramasangata Pada), added to our family collection in 1930 from a private Japanese collection. It was made in mid 19th century.
Lacking any royal or divine attributes, this King Jayavarman VII statue represents a simple, spiritual man.
His facial expression is accentuated by semi-closed eyes, a slight smile, large forehead, lips that are neither thin nor thick, and long ear lobes...
Beautifully carved relief fragment representing the head of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, wearing a diadem on which appears a small Buddha Amithaba in meditation sitting on a lotus throne and surrounded by foliage. Avalokiteshvara has a third eye, and a necklace. Stone, with some abrasion. Gandhara Graeco-Buddhist period (1st to 5th century). Height: 18.5 cm. The head is nicely mounted on a custom stand. Pair of hard porcelain vases, enamel decoration of butterflies, birds and flowers. Dragons chasing the sacred pearl surround the collar inside and out. Golden details. The flared shape is elegant and very rare, the enamels are of excellent quality, the patterns are well drawn and the presence of dragons is also rare on this type of porcelain which, almost always, was intended for Europe.
Good general condition, no restoration...

It’s in very good condition with old dark-brown patina due to its age,it measures 18.5cm high. and 32cm length, weight: 2.74 lbs.

Small cast bronze incense burner in the shape of a duck. The bird is lying on its folded legs and gracefully twists its neck to groom its plumage. There has never been a lid because the opening on its back is clean without grooves and without any trace of friction or wear. The carving is of good quality, the eyes and nostrils are particularly well executed. Chinese work from the 18th century or much earlier.
Below, between the legs, the bronze cracked and was repaired with tin solder...
Chinese Qing to Republic period porcelain lion dog seated with an open mouth revealing ferocious teeth and a well-formed protruding tongue, covered overall with a golden amber glaze. 8 1/2" high x about 8" long. Early 20th century. An old price tag is adhered to the unglazed base. Very good overall condition with possibly a tiny loss or production flaw to the side of one tooth. From a Paradise Valley, Arizona estate.
Poutaï in porcelain enamelled mainly in yellow, details in blue, green, pink, white and gold enamels. The deity is represented seated, relaxed as usual. The jovial expression is well treated...
