Rare Meiji Period Japanese Court Lady Ningyo with chin-biki dog. Beautifully rendered with gorgeous hand crafted embroidery. The details are incredible, including that of the dog in red cape. This bisque porcelain figure was produced in the mid 19th century. It has the initials L&M impressed in the base. We do not know the country of origin but it most likely is Continental. It is 10 1/2 inches high and the base has a diameter of 4 inches. It is made of unfired bisque porcelain. The piece depicts a sweet faced child holding a basket of fruit in one hand. There is a feeling of calmness and purity emanating from this figure. Condition: Excellent

Another niece piece of Ming dynasty funerary sancai glazed foreign groom and horse. The groom is foreign looking with a white slash on the waist and downward. The cap looks like from the western part of the county, probably from the one of the tribes. The groom wears a brown coloured clothe with a long sleevless outer coat in green with white collar and button. The horse is cream white in colour with green glazed harness and green saddle cloth on the horse back...

Fine and rare roof ridge tile figure group consisting of a horse and groom made during the Ming Dynasty (AD 1368 - 1644). Condition - unusually very good - age related wear to glazes and minor chipping (please see enlargement 8 for most noticable chip) but no significant losses and no restoration...

Antique Japanese tansu chest with 4 drawers, each drawer is made of kiri (paulownia) wood that has been cut to display an unusual vertical pattern, each drawer is trimmed in persimmon wood and has a large iron lock plate with an oak leaf (kashiwa) mon, unusual shaped iron drawer pulls, Meiji Period (1868-1912). Rare Yonezawa area Isho Tansu. Size: 36" high x 28 3/4" wide x 15 1/2" deep.

Unusual choba tansu made with keyaki (elm) wood with large persimmon wood beams running horizontal with through tennon joinery in the frame, identical top and bottom drawer with beautiful keyaki wood, sliding panels also of keyaki wood open to compartment with shelf, iron hardware, Edo/Meiji Period (early 1800's). I have seen many antique paintings of mountain tigers, but none with this level of realism. This Chinese painting dates late Qing, 1910-1912, possibly early Republic, pre 1920. The seal indicates that it came from a shop in Southern China. It measures approximately 17" wide x 48" high.

This is a charming old cloisonne teapot from the later part of the Qing Dynasty in China. During this time period the traditions and culture of tea making and drinking had evolved to include the appreciation of tea articles as art objects in addition to their utilitarian purposes. This well crafted miniture teapot would have been sought after for its sculptural form.

An Edwardian Arts and Crafts hammered brass crumber and tray. This hand made brass crumb scoop and tray dates to the 1900-10 Edwardian era. A nice piece of Ming dynasty funerary sancai glazed groom and horse. The horse is in light brown glazed while the groom wears a black cap, with a moustache and wearing a light green overcoat with white collar. The horse has a green glazed harness,tussles and saddle cloth. The saddle is brown in colour.

There is only a chip to the horse ear as shown in picture no.4 by the circle. The chip on the horse ear can be easily repaired by an expert restorer...

This porcelain dish was produced in France in the late 19th century. It has an underglaze mark that says Limoges, France but there is no factory name. The dish was evidently sold undecorated to an amateur artist who painted it. The dish has cut out handles on the sides. It is 8 1/4 inches across the handles. The roses are painted with delicacy. You have buds to full blown blooms in pink and rose. The dish is trimmed with gilding. Condition: Excellent

This porcelain plate was produced in Germany by Royal Vienna around 1870. The diameter of the plate is 8 1/2 inches. The plate has sections of the border cut out with reticulated designs and painted with flowers and birds. There are also panels with colorful hand painted birds on branches. They are reminiscent of bird painting done by Meissen and Herend. The center of the plate has a branch of hazel nuts and sprigs of berries. The decoration is beautifully done...

This is a Ming dynasty funerary sancai glazed horse.

There are no repair, restoration or chip. As a funerary horse object, a certain degree of abrasion, wear, soil calcificatio and degradation can be expected.The decolouralisation, abrasion, degradation and calcification can be seen in the photographs.

The height of the funerary horse is 20.6cm, the length is 20.75cm and the width is 10cm.

This porcelain basket was produced in England in the mid 19th century. It is unmarked. It measures 8 1/4 inches long and 4 1/2 inches high. It is made of fine quality, white bone china. You would expect this quality from factories such as Minton, Worcester, Davenport, or Coalport. The handle and rim has decoration molded into the porcelain which is accented with gold. A Bohemian cased and parcel gilt glass beaker, c 1870. Of octagonal shape, the sides facet-cut leaving eight oval reserves in ruby red surrounded by gilt ornaments in the style typical of this period. Height "5 ¼/ 13,5 cm. Condition: wear to the gilt decoration.

Antique Japanese “Yogi” bed comforter, hand-spun cotton with "tsutsugaki" paste resist dye in aizome Japanese indigo dye. The design is auspicious symbol, Sho-Chiku-Bai (pine, bamboo, plums). Very attractive Japanese Yogi (bed comforter) with a pattern of chrysanthemums and scrolling vine, rice paste resist Katazome stencil dye. The cotton is not as thick as the other yogi. Excellent condition, It is an another "tsukurioki" (it had not been used after it was made - t just sit in the storage as a spare bedding for guests. This is a copper red or rouge-de-fer pheonix glaze water dropper. It has a seal of a hall mark at the base. This is a late 19th to early 20th century water dropper, probably Guangxu period - late Qing dynasty.

This is a small Yuan dynasty blue and white jarlet with a flat base and a bulb shaped body. It has two stylized stalk of sun flowers drawn around the center of the jarlet. The blue and white jarlet is probably used for oinment or some medication.

The blue and white jarlet is in good condition with a possible restoration to the right side circular ear as shown in photo number 4. Other than that, no crack, hairline or chip.

This is a lime glazed bowl with a lime green ruyi at the upper band of the bowl and the lotus lappet at the bottom of the bowl just before the foot rim. In between the lime green ruyi band and lotus lappet are a mirror image bat or wufu surrounding the character shou or longevity. Between the two wings of the bats, on the left and right, they appear to be holding a lotus flower. Alternating between the pair of wufu is a swastika. This is a famille jaune glaze bowl used for auspious events such as birthday and joyous occassions that calls for celeberation. In the center of the bowl, it has five wufu or bats surrounding the character longevity, all in copper red colour. It has a six character seal mark dated to Guangxu reign. This is a medium size Daoguang period minyao dish. It is decorated with bamboos (flexibility ad durability) and beneath it is a small taihu rock (strong and solid foundation) with two lingzhi (longveity) to the left and right. To the right is a poem.
