A trained sculptor, Felipe Martinez created some of the most amazing “mask” jewelry in the golden period of Mexico’s 20th c. Silver Renaissance. His ability to work with precious metal and stone is astounding, the two materials becoming like one whole in his inlaid designs while in his “mask” creations turning into living, breathing figures in a deeply serene sleep...

Salvador Teran created this Mexican silver bracelet adorned with natural uncut emerald stones that spark green flashes with light. The silver is thick and it fits most with a 2.5 diameter. The width is 1 inch. Appropriately hallmarked as shown and with no damage. The patina is naturally dark. The dark spot in the center is the camera reflection. Heavy Antonio Pineda Mexican silver bracelet wrought in his signature .970 alloy comprised of a series of with geometric links holding bezel set tiger's eye oval cabs on swivel pins. There is something very serious about Antonio jewelry - even his most minimalist of designs have a presence that commands respect and deference. Here the sturdiness of the silver "z" links is softened by the sense of fluidity in the molten browns and caramels of the stones...

Inspired by ancient Aztec and Maya glyphs and stamps this Mexican silver necklace by Gerardo Lopez combines figural overlay with niello to create an eye-catching example of Taxco's "archeological" style. Margot Van Voorhies was definitively the finest female designer from the Mexican Silver Renaissance. This repousse clamper is carved exquisitely and undulates with the reverse repousse. The fish is 4 inches tall and has a weight of 115 grams. Turn the fish around and the silver tapers to 1.25in. in the back for comfort. Due to the age of these clampers many suffer from metal fatigue and have lost their "snap"...

A magnificent sterling and turquoise necklace and matching ring by Fred Davis. It is all original and in beautiful condition. The ring is signed but not the necklace so I would always keep it as a set. The ring is a size 6, front measures 1 1/8" long by 3/4" wide. The necklace is spectacular, a collar really, measuring approx. 16 1/2- 17" long. Hard to be exact because it is curved. It is 1 1/2" wide and weighs 148 grams. It is a fabulous set that I believe to be quite rare as I have never seen...

In the last couple of years I found myself drawn closer and closer to the jewelry created by the Los Ballesteros workshop. I am especially attracted to their “mask” pieces in all the forms they can be found as well as to what I like to call their “hinged bangle” bracelets. I consider both kinds the absolute jewel in the taller’s creative crown and it seems that there is always something new and different to discover. The perfectly carved tiger’s eye “Joker” pendant is a piece I h...
