A young woman in rare western dress gazes across this early to mid 20th century Bijinga scroll signed Ikko (Furutani Fujio, b. 1891) enclosed in a period wooden box. Her bright western dress and short hair must have made quite an impression in conservative Japan. The silk painting is bordered in green brocade embellished with flowering vines, extended with beige and features bone rollers. Description: A set of straw glazed QingBai cup and stand was preserved well. The cup was in six petals' floral shape and was crackled beautifully. The stand was in perfect condition with obvious excavation evidences. They were not an original set but were originated from the same date and were perfectly matched. This is an old Chinese carpentry tool. It was used the same as today's carpenter's "chalk line". The bowl would be filled with powdered charcoal and the string would be pulled through the bowl, and a straight line would be snapped. The string would be rewound by tuning the "crank handle". Older carpenters frequently made their own tool and the carving on this one is very well done, a dragons head floating in a wave pattern. Note the hand made string...very rare...

Description: A wood figure of a seating official was finely carved from one piece of camphor wood. Making use of the core of the wood, the wood circular growth rings were obviously revealed on the belly of the figure and were intriguingly as the grains of the wearing drapery. By excellent carving skill, the official was vividly rendered. The enduring patina added more atmosphere to this marvelous piece. Date: Qing Dynasty. Height: 23.5cm

A shallow dish, heavily potted, covered in a beautiful celadon glaze producing the crackles of the Geyao type glaze. The recessed base is glazed while the foot rim is dressed with an iron brown wash. Periode : Qianlong (1736-1795) Century Diameter : 30 cm. Condition : Perfect, no chips, cracks, hairlines or restorations.

This unusual prayer wheel has both the wooden and horn parts which are intricately carved with Tibetan Buddhist symbols. The wheel comes with it on metal stand.

A chaozhu made of pierced and enameled silver or silver plated metal filigree beads. 90 small beads with crane design between three large "Buddha's head" beads. Three strings each with 10 dark beads ending in a teardrop bead. The tape which hung down the back with an oblong plaque between a double gourd and a teardrop bead. Dimension: 112 cm long. Weight: 174 gram. Condition: traces of usage: several beads with enamel loss, perhaps some beads missing.

Description: An Yixing tea caddy was kept with original cap. All were in old charming patina and in perfect condition, the Yixing caddy was finely carved with crisp inscriptions and motif of bamboo troves. That made this Yixing caddy a piece full of literati taste. By literal translation, carved two bigger words were Sane Yun(Unique Atmosphere), and ended with- Carved by Shi Yun...

A saintly recluse dozes restfully, his pole dipping to the waves below the rocky outcrop upon which he sits; a fine bronze figure dating to the Meiji period and signed on the reverse. The figure with the rock is 32 x 22 x 30.5 cm (11 x 9 x 12 inches) and is in fine condition.

This is a set of small but very unique Keshi bina musician dolls or they may be called as Kawari bina (different or strange looking). By placing them casually, you can create an interesting group. The size of the two dolls are 4 inches tall on 1 1/2 inches stool (new lacquered wood), the other three are approx. 3 inches tall.

A fine tripod censer, dressed in a dark brown glaze, decorated with scaterred "Paper Resist" three florets revealing the body beneath. A rare b/w bowl, decorated at the exterior with continuously of Indian lotus flowers and inside the center with a rosette design medallion, surrounded to the inner rim with key-fret border. Ming dynasty Chenghua period. Condition with a hairline, a tiny flake chip to the foot rim and minor glaze hairlines to the base but not crossing to inside the center of the bowl, free from any restoration. Diameter: 14.6cm and High: 7cm.

A Yuan dynasty b/w pear-shaped bottle vase, decorated with two phoenix on flight among clouds scroll. Before restore condition is broken like indicated on the pictures at page 17, item #778851, probably loose about 20%. High: 28 cm.

In good keeping with the Koransha tradition, this vase demonstrates the imagination and creativity of the Fukagawa ceramists and is reminiscent of their design books. First thinking it might be a gourd form, it becomes apparent it must be a melon form - more consistent with the suggestion of Spring with the blue and white prunus and cracked ice background to the polychrome mountainous landscape with black pine and secluded retreats in green, yellow, aubergine, orange and gold enamel.
