An amazing bit of weaving has been performed on this modern bamboo basket made in the shape of a gardener’s vegetable collecting basket. The long body has tall sides, open at one end, and is signed underneath Tosho. It has been formed of two shades of thinly cut bamboo, susutake and aged yellow take. Susutake is taken from the roofs of traditional houses, highly prized as it takes many years to color, being stained slowely by smoke and soot from the hearth fire...

This is a finely potted Song dynasty (960 – 1276AD) Yaozhou Persimmon hexafoil glazed cup. It has a gently rounded sides rising from a straight foot to an everted hexafoil rim, covered overall in a lustrous with a scattered iridescent persimmon glaze. The lustrous persimmon glaze, with its thick glaze flow stopping just short of the foot to reveal a white clay body. Overall, it is a very beautiful piece.

This is a rare and beautifully decorated Qing dynasty blue and white pilgrim flask. The design and painting of the pilgrim flask follows that of the Yuan dynasty style. It has a pair of three claws dragons flying between the sky and sea chasing after the “Pearl of Fire”. Above the ruyi head, a pair of phoenix is flying in a garden flowing with and surrounded by meandering foliate, branching leaf and flowers...

A beautifully decorated Qing dynasty famille rose plate with 5 different brightly coloured butterflies alternating with bamboo leave, melon plant, chrysanthemum flower, morning glory flower and cherry flower. The base of the plate bears the six-character reign mark of Guangxu (1875-1908) and of the late Qing Dynasty period.

There is a minor firing fault at the top right hand corner where the reign mark is...

A beautifully red glazed porcelain brush pot with dragons’ motif. There are three dragons motif on the brush pot, flying between the heaven and the sea. There are two smaller dragons facing each other, chasing after the “Pear of Fire”. Another larger dragon has it face looking forward in the usual imperial grandeur. It seems to appear that the red glaze is probably to simulate the red cinnabar colour...
