Another one of my Taller Taxco treasures, this necklace, obviously based on Salvador Teran's design, came to me with a matching bracelet (by yet a different maker) which I will be presenting in the next few days. An intriguing taller, its relationship (or lack thereof?) to Teran still remains cloudy yet its emulations of Salvador's jewelry are of the highest quality and craftsmanship. The choker at hand, a reinterpretation of a pre-Colombian motif within the context of the mid-20th c...
Difficult to find, especially with its hourglass charm still attached to it, one of Margot's most sought-after, avidly collected, time-themed bracelets. I love the fleshiness of the Roman numerals and the architectural quality of the hourglass charm itself - please not the "beading" that represents the sand in it...

The amethyst comma necklace is one of the most recognizable of Antonio Pineda's works of art. The silver is 970 and silky to the hand. There are no cracks or chips to the stones and no damage or flaws to the silver. The most important thing to look for is how the silver comes up and forms a wall on each link at edges. Most are uneven and without a sharp edge. The length is 16in. long,.75in. tall and it weighs in at 102.5 grams heavy...
This is an exceptional work of art by H. Santana. The silver is thick and weighs 103 grams. The drop has 3 panels of 2.5in. x 2.75in. and displays a large presence. With the chain being exceptionally long of 18 inches then plus the length of the drop, you have enough to make it a custom fit. I am listing a cut work Santana obsidian bracelet that is a match for the necklace. The cut work is quite endearing with the hearts and scrolls of swirls...

A stunning piece, it measures a wearable 17 3/4" with its feathers part being 4" wide by 2 1/4" tall (at its tallest). The width at the chai...

Gazing at the back of the traditional Maiko apprentice, pins and combs hold her coiffure perfect, our eyes travel down to the neck revealed as it joins the white painted shoulders, the luxurious kimono with its signature high and draping sash: She has the two of hearts! A very unusual painting reflecting the oddities of western influence at the opening of the 20th century by Matsumoto Ichiyo (1893-1952). It is truly a sketch, very possibly made from life while the young apprentice artist watch...
Based on the dramatic contrast of highly polished silver against dark, oxidized backgrounds, Sigi's jewelry is eye-catching without having to be burdensomely elaborate. The necklace at hand illustrates, I believe, my assertion in the best possible way. Gorgeous, a pleasure to wear and to behold, and a true Tasco (sic) modernist treasure. It measures just shy of 16" long (wearable) with the central mirrored part of it being 4" wide and 1" tall (at its tallest); the width of the chain itself is 5/...

This squash blossom of mercury silver dimes give this necklace a welcoming smaller presence. The naja is 2.5in. x 2.5in. and the weight is a hefty 205.5 grams. Each dime section is 1.25in. wide. I love this piece layered with other coin necklaces and I have another listed on my site. The model is shown with it at it's shortest a...

Taller Taxco remains one of the mysteries that haunt our knowledge about maestros and workshops in Taxco's golden age. All their pieces that I have had have been high quality emulations of Salvador Teran's designs and the fact that their numbering system and a specific symbol they use in their hallmarks resembles Teran's own marks has created the idea that the two are somehow associated. Yet as Bille Hougart points out in the latest edition of his "Little Book of Mexican Silver" to date we have ...

Signed and authentic Matl Matilde Poulat / Salas take the Mexico City folk style to it's height in this 350 gram heavy necklace. The center Caracola has a gorgeous teal turquoise stone that is almost an inch long. The center drop measures 3.25in. x 4in. The chain is 1.25in. wide and is a gorgeous amethys...
