A good and very rare early Ming 15th century Zhengtong - Tianshun interregnum blue and white bowl with two immortals, rounded side with flared rim and glazed base, bowl decorated with under glaze blue of two immortals (He & Hu) motif, center with scholar sitting on a big fish, very rare motif, base with square mark.
Bowl is in very good condition no chip, no crack, no restoration.

Mother of pearl is inset into the silver powder dusted lattice set between red lacquered pillars forming this art-deco era lacquer vase enclosed in the original signed wooden box by Iwamura Sadao (1912-1944). A brass insert which rests perfectly between the four corners allows for flowers. The strong geometric patterning embodies the Art Deco style so popular in Japan in the 1930s. This is a small yaozhou celadon bowl in the shape of a compressed globular body divided into 12 lobes vertically. It stands on a short foot rim with a recessed based all glazed in olive green colour all the way from the foot rim to the mildy everted mouth rim and to the inside of the bowl.

Some abrasion to the mouth rim of the bowl, uneven glazing and minute snad grits adhesion to the recess base of the footrim as shown in the photographs...
