This man's quilted hat would have been worn in northern China. The pattern of the quilting on the crown of the hat suggests a mongolian influence. The long sides and rear flaps are heavily padded and are each extensively quilted with a large flower and diamond background. This child's headpiece was from a very high status, wealthy Chinese family. Basically made of 3 pieces of shaped and intricately carved leather, it was made "adjustable". This Chinese pipe is from the Miao Ethnic Minority group in the vicinity of Rong Jiang. My Miao friends insist that this pipe would have been used for smoking tobacco and not opium. Made from silver alloy, the stem design has the two dragons chasing the center pearl.
The pipe is in very good condition and is 19" long and it comes with its own custom made stand.

Description: A wood panel was carved with a house, a plum tree, and an elephant. An odd combination when an elephant was described in Chinese garden. "Good sign(elephant) stays in my house" -a greeting words meant a lot to Chinese people. The panel or the architecture sculpture had always been bestowed with the best wishes like this.
An elephant who doesn't seem to be realistic, maybe just because the carver had never seen a real one.

Well applied on the surface with greenish glaze, the bowl was decorated in the cavetto with carved motifs of three playing babies among scrolling flowers.
These were characteristic motifs for the dated periods.
Firing effects were yielded within the foot ring where the body clay was revealed.
The bowl was preserved in perfect condition with only one minute dent on the rim. It was caused during pottering.

A celadon Longquan long-neck bottle was survived from excavation in a nice condition.
By characteristics of the well mold body, the slightly inverted foot ring, the darken firing effects happened to the body clay and the pale gray tint of the revealed body clay, the lovely bottle was verified as from Southern Song Dynasty or at least from early Yuan periods.
