A tea bowl with stunning glaze by the legendary Miyashita Zenji 宮下善爾 (1939-2012), one of the greatest contemporary Kyoto potters. This is an early work, when he focused on celadon-like glazes. At that time he was studying ancient Chinese pieces, and was influenced by his father who excelled in celadon. His tea bowls are not common, and purple ones are quite rare.

The tall shape has four raised ribs on the matt buff/white glazed body, the bottom gourd boldly painted with sets of green stripes on a tan ground. Haku Maki's dragon prints have nicely flowing kanji script We suspect he may have used the same mixed media implements to produce both prints. The blue one is 37/150. we have only seen one copy of each print: they must have all been snapped up by Year of the Dragon folk.

Offered is an early signed and dated 1977 hand-blown studio glass perfume bottle. The bottle has two polished windows, which reveal a pale amber chamber encased in swirling multi-colored and black glass with a black glass stopper. The bottle is 5 ½ " tall, including the dauber, by 4" wide. It is in very good condition, with one very minor flea bit and no other scratches, chips, scuffs, or repairs noted.
