Fantastic vase by the legendary Miyashita Zenji 宮下善爾 (1939-2012), one of the greatest contemporary Kyoto potters. This was made using the colored clay technique that he was best known for— such pieces are exceedingly rare, most being found in numerous museums world-wide, and a shrinking number of private collections...

This small signed Hopi pot is 1 ½ inches tall and 1 ¾ inches wide. It has orange interior and two abstract bird design on a beige background. It is signed by Gwen Setalla (Dee¡¯s sister) and is dated July, 1975. It is in good condition.

Splendid Keshiki, it is difficult to describe this stunning square platter by Bizen master Kakurezaki Ryuichi (b. 1950) which comes enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The massive dish is torn and scraped from a single thick slab of clay. Spattered with natural ash glaze, it is a true masterpiece by this most sought after artist. The piece is 16-1/2 inches (42 cm) square and in excellent condition...

Paedra Peter Bramhall, Vermont studio art glass sphere sculpture. Dated 1982. Size: 13 in. diameter. Paedra Peter Bramhall was born in 1942 and is a glass sculptor and painter who resides in Bridgewater Corners, VT. This hand blown sphere exhibits a peacock feather motif in colored glass.

Artistic and modern Raku Chawan by one of the best potters of Japan, Yasuo Terada 寺田康雄. It comes with the originally signed and sealed wooden box and with a profile of the artist.

Yasuo Terada was born in 1948 in Seto City, Japan. 

He graduated from Tama Art University with a major in sculpture. He has toured countries around the world, working and exploring for inspiration...

Dohei Fujinoki is one of the most popular artist in contemporary KARATSU pottery scene. Initially he aimed a western painter and then,when he met an old KARATSU pottery piece he had been fascinated. He has studied at Karatsu and also MIno. And while, he has studied in tea ceremony. His repertoires are goods for tea ceremony, sake cup, and tableware for Japanese cuisine. A superb example of Iga in a slightly flaring form by Tsujimura Kai enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Iga Chawan.  A perfect charring descends like a waterfall from the rim on one side, sheltered by crystallized green ash on the flame scorched terracotta body.  The exverted shape allows the bowl a very comfortable fit into the palm, and the wide kodai base allows it to sit stable and firm, creating a proud silhouette.

The cloth textured surface seems to glow warm like the promise of warm days to come, cherries blossoming wide on this sake set by Ito Motohiko enclosed in the original signed wooden boxes. The Guinomi is 7.5cm (3 inches) diameter 3.5cm (1-1/2 inches) tall. The Tokkuri is 9.5cm (just less than 4 inches) diameter, 14.5cm (just less than 6 inches) tall and both are in excellent condition.

Silver ray-skin texture covers this fabulous Katakuchi sake pot by Ichikawa Toru enclosed in the original signed wooden box. OMG a chilled Daiginjo served with this would have to taste like a million bucks! Like a footed softball, it is 12 cm (4-3/4 inches) diameter, ever so slightly shorter although it appears to be taller than it is wide.
One of my favorite artists, the innovative Ichikawa Toru was born in Tokyo in 1973...

A deep bowl decorates with an assortment of colors in dashes, dots and draperies by Kawabata Kentaro enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled simply Chawan. Consistent with this artitsts repertoire, the varying aspects are difficult to surmise in few words, raw clay, torn, cut, molded, squeezed and decorated with color in a variety of styles with glass beads. A playful work to represent his eclectic style...

Large Aka-raku style chawan with excellent modeling and spatula work with a perfect, small kodai on which the bowl balances giving it a wonderful lift upward. Measuring in at 13.5 x 9.5 centimeters, this chawan has an exceptional posture and balance, feeling great in the hand and appearing larger than the dimensions would indicate...

Tall and massive porcelain vase in the shape of a double gourd, the lower section squared. Decorated in overglaze, traditional Kutani enamels (yellow, blue, green, red, purple and touches of gold) with medallions with thistles, grapes, fruits, butterflies, crickets. On bottom a traditional green square seal: Kutani Masao.
