A vintage hand wrought sterling silver brooch from the American Studio Modernist jeweler, John Lewis. Made up of multiple circles at different heights and contrasting textures. You can see the light hammering around the edge.

Measures about 2 1/4" across and 2" high. Heavy and substantial. Weighs 38 gr. Marked Sterling and with the crossed JL mark of the artist. It is marked under the pin making it difficult to photograph.

A pair of vintage modernist sterling silver brooches in boomerang patterns by Hans Hansen, Denmark designed by Bent Gabrielsen. One brooch is also marked with the dotted oval mark of Georg Jensen. Can be purchased individually or as a pair.

The dually signed brooch measures 3" across, and 3/4" wide. Weighs 13 Gr.

Spratling designed this eye catching "entwined hands" buckle in the late 1940's. Measuring 5" X 2 1/4" & weighing 49 grams the piece is in beautiful condition. The back loops will accommodate up to a 1 inch strap. The buckle can also be worn as a pendant. Spratling also designed a similar "hands" necklace. Hallmarks are WS 925. A later version, (c.1965) of this buckle appears on p. 147 of WILLIAM SPRATLING AND THE MEXICAN SILVER RENAISSANCE by Penny Morrill.

This fine Modernist Bracelet by Antonio Pineda features open work links with two panels overlapping creating a unique design. Measuring 7 1/2" long by 1 1/8" wide and it weighs a heavy 126.6 grams. It has a secure box clasp with an attached safety chain and shows only light age related wear and tarnish. Hallmarked with the Antonio Crown, Taxco, JVL and the eagle 208. There is no mark for the silver content but it has been tested to be at least 925 silver...

A very unique early Antonio Pineda bracelet with thick heavy 970 silver links set with Tiger's Eye stones featuring carved double portraits. A vintage modernist necklace with a textured and polished silver pendant on what looks like the original chain by the master sculptor and artist from Ecuador, Oswaldo Guayasamin. Has 5 dangles suspended from the bottom and a central polished concave disk dangling from the center.

The central pendant measures 1 1/4" across and 2 1/2" long with the large bales and dangles. The chain measures about 25" long and has a secure hook closure...

Signed by Graziella Laffi, the often referred-to as "Spratling of Peru" this bird brooch can also be found with blue enamel adorning its eye. Executed in all-silver in our case, with hand-etched and stippled details, I like to think of it as a pelican or even a seagull, maybe because she has used the same motif in necklace and bracelet form as well but combined with fish-shaped stations...

This Fred Davis Silver & Amethyst Necklace has a classic design with bezel set Amethyst cabochons set at the center of four silver domes, a design that has been a favorite for both jewelry artists and collectors. These stunning Antonio Pineda Amethyst Earrings have a Modernist style with a elongated tapered tube of silver with a cone shaped amethyst stone set to dangle at the bottom. They measure 3" long and together they weigh 26.6 grams. Hallmarked with the Antonio Crown on one and the eagle 17 on the other (marks are a bit faint and impossible to get a good picture). The screw backs function well and there is only light wear and tarnish, no damage noted. Chic and elegant with timeless style.

A picture is worth a thousand words, they say, and in preparing to offer this fantastic find of mine, I am putting my trust in popular wisdom. When one has been dealing in vintage Mexican silver jewelry for as long a time as I have, one tends to hear that little "devil" in one's ear louder and louder, claiming that there is nothing new or exciting left to be encountered. Thankfully though, life and the old maestros of Taxco still keep some aces hidden up their sleeve...

This fabulous vintage Mexican Bracelet has a stunning design similar to the work of Antonio Pineda - it's signed with the initials AP but they differ from the more common Pineda hallmark and we're not sure who the artist is. It's a massive piece measuring 7" long, 1" wide and is quite heavy at 115.5 grams. Early style pin closure. No damage noted, just some light wear and tarnish and the Amethyst stones have the typical inclusions. A fantastic bracelet that any collector will love.

Dating in the 1940s, this massive sterling silver and azur-malachite "mozaico Azteca" inlay pendant necklace is signed by Taxco maestro Jose Anton. I am more used to Anton's repousse work yet from time to time, I do come across some examples that feature overlay and, as in this case, stone inlay. What impresses me here is, of course, the generously sized pendant with its "warrior" silver inlay in profile as well as the detail of the eagle figure floating in the air next to it...

It's very rare to come across any jewelry by the famous Hubert Harmon making these fanciful and unique Earrings or Ear Cuffs a real treasure. Designed to wrap around the ear they feature a Wing and a Star at the top with three stars at the bottom, two of which dangle. They measure 5" long by 1 5/8" wide and together they weigh 26.7 grams. This important and rare necklace by the famous Fred Davis is one of his most sought after styles and is featured in several books on fine Mexican Silver Jewelry. Chevron shaped links of solid silver are connected so it lays beautifully around your neck. It measures 16 1/2" long by 1" wide and weighs 97.1 grams. Hallmarked "FD, Silver Mexico".
