Beautifully executed drawing in soft pencil, 8 1/2" by 11 1/2" sheet, 6 1/2" by 9 1/2" inside the rectangular border drawn by the artist, and 10 1/4" by 13 5/8" as framed, signed at lower right "Davis F. Schwartz", showing a copse of trees in a hilly landscape. This drawing, which reminds of works by Ralph Holmes or Maynard Dixon, is nicely framed in a 1930's or 1940's frame. A refined old drawing titled "Caterskill Clove" dated Oct. 7, 1859, the subject a famed rocky gorge in the eastern part of the Catskill mountains of New York State (google "Catskill Clove" for full information on this renowned scenic area). The work is apparently unsigned. There are any number of listed artists of the Hudson River School who could have created the drawing; Sanford Robinson Gifford, William Hart, Asher Durand and many others of note painted in the area...

Fernand Leger, French,1881-1955. This stunning example of Fernand Leger's imagery at his peak period in the 1920's is graphite and gouache on paper. It is 34.5cm h by 25cm w in a beautiful frame 55cm h by 45cm w. It is signed lower right F. L. 22 and inscribed "A mon cher Ami Albert Fratellini cordialement F Leger". There is some wear on the edges of the paper as can be seen but no damage to the image...

There are lots of signed prints out there, but few original works, by the hand of famous comedian RED SKELTON (1913-1997), who is said to have said that he made more money from his art than from his entertainment career. This is an unframed study in pencil by a noted figure in eastern American art, XANTHUS RUSSELL SMITH (1839-1929).
