Original Japanese woodblock print by 20th century master Jun'Ichiro Sekino (1914-1988) circa 1950s. Unusual column format (roughly 28" by 10" paper, 21" by 5" image), extremely unusual subject, signed "J. Sekino" in pencil lower right and numbered 67/100 lower left. In its original frame, not examined out of the frame but apparently in excellent condition. Sekino's woodblocks are found in the collections of most important art museums, including MOMA and the Art Institute of Chicago.

A PAIR of very desirable prints in unusually fine condition, (not examined out of frame, but appearance as presented is superb), pencil signed at lower right near the red artist seal, by the important French-Japanese printmaker artist PAUL JACOULET (1902-1960). Measurements inside the mat are 15" by 11 1/4" (23" by 16 1/4" in black strip frames). Note the prevalent silver mica in the field background, one of the revolutionary techniques for which Jacoulet is revered among print collectors...

The artist used a fine coral powder to give dimension to the compositional colors. He also experimented with Gofun, an egg white derivative that produced a rich opaque effect...

This is a print from the original woodblocks, of the work "Jongleur", 1938, from the series "Le Cirque de l'Etoile Filante (Circus of the Shooting Star) by the important French artist GEORGES ROUAULT (1871-1958). The print is quite small, 2 7/8" by 2 1/8" inside the mat (9 1/2" by 8 1/4" as framed). I believe that this is from the edition published at a later date by the Collectors' Guild of New York, as other examples I have seen are identically framed, and with their label on the reverse...
