Serigraph (silkscreen) print after a painting by the giant of modern art, GEORGES BRAQUE (1882-1963), 9 3/4" by 32" (an impressive 18 1/4" by 41" framed), signed in the print at lower left and dated there 1920. The title, "The Blue Plums", appears in the wide margin below the mat. Braque needs little introduction, as one of the famous names of modern art who in the early years of the century developed, along with his friend Picasso, the Cubism movement, which changed the art world forever...

Jean Baptiste Camille Corot, 1796-1875, French, "Paysage d'Italie," Etching, image size 6 x 9 1/8 inches, cat: Melot- C.7, later printing without Cadart lettering, possibly after it was removed. This is a very nice impression with wide borders, printed on a medium weight cream colored laid type paper. This atmospheric image from Corot's series of Italian landscapes is a great example of his ability to capture the life and movement of the scene with loose spontaneous lines and rich tones.

"William Hogarth" "Some Principal Inhabitants of the Moon: Royalty, Episcopacy and Law" and "Masquerade Ticket" The Works of William Hogarth" as published by Baldwin, Cradock and Joy in 1822 with the original plates restored by James Heath, engraver to His Majesty. An old etching of Notre Dame cathedral in central Paris, viewed from the south bank of the Seine river, titled at bottom "Pont de l'Archeveche Paris", artist name K. Gautier (LUCIEN GAUTIER, 1850-1925) at lower left margin. The print measures 9 3/4" by 14 3/4" (13" by 18" in silvery metal framing). There are some fox marks in the field and typical browning/light soiling seen on an antique print; also a slight bit of raising of the paper surface at extreme right corner...

A rare print by surrealist print maker Ozaku Seishi, professor emeritus from Tama Art University. He is best known for small edition prints, usually up to 30 copies, limitless experimentation with printing techniques and surrealist, often graphic imagery resembling distorted reality ¬neither quite explicit nor quite horror, but rendering a fairly dark version of dreams. This aquatint is from a 1974 portfolio titled “World of Children” (子どもの世界), which consisted of 30 aquatints...

Sir Frank Brangwyn, British, 1867-1956, "Scaffolding, No. 1 (L`Échafaudage)," etching, plate measures 19 x 20 3/4 inches on 24 1/2 x 29 1/2 inch wove type paper. A richly inked drypoint from 1919. Catalog reference: Gaunt 245. Edition of 54. Pencil signed in the lower right. Sir Frank Brangwyn was one of the most important British artists of the early 20th century. A member of the Royal Academy, the Royal Watercolor Society, and the Royal Society of British Artists, he was knighted in 1924.

This silkscreen offering is said by some to depict Kabuki make-up. It is 8sq inches and in excellent condition. See picture 4, the title, where Maki seems to have written Kuma 92/--his numeral 1 was usually a straightforward vertical 1.

Lester George Hornby 1882-1956 American This is an original color aquatint etching by American artist Lester George Hornby. The title is "Le Fete a Pantin", it was created and printed in 1911 in an edition of 25. The image measures 9 3/4X14 5/8 inches. This etching is hand signed in pencil lower right and printed on a medium weight laid type paper.

Alphonse Legros 1837-1911 French This is an original drypoint and etching by French artist Alphonse Legros (1837-1911) The title of this work is: "Les Faiseurs de Fagots", created circa 1870 this image measures 15X10 7/8 inches, hand signed in pencil lower right border, very fine condition, the image appears in the Bliss catalog as image number 182, ii/xiv, the second state of 14.

A fine color soft-ground etching and aquatint by the noted, prolific Czech master artist TAVIK FRANTISEK SIMON (1877-1942), featuring the famous and much-loved "bouquiniste" bookstalls along the Seine in Paris. The sheet measures 17 3/4" by 15 1/2" and 19 1/2" by 17 1/4" very nicely framed back in the 1950's or so in Chicago at Anderson Galleries (label on backing). The print is signed in pencil at lower right by the artist and numbered 48 in the lower left margin...
