I cannot make out the signature, and do not know if it be simply by an amateur of considerable talent, or perhaps, by a known artist? The signature most definitely has a professional look to it.

19th Century American School 1800-1899 American Artists This is an original oil on tin painting of a young woman. It is apparently unsigned and so we are calling this 19th century American School. The painting measures 8X7 inches, it came to us in a period gilt frame which measures 12 1/2X11 1/2 inches. Expertly painted, this is a fine example of 19th century American portraiture.

A circa 1930 colorful, beautiful, accomplished woodblock print of a Christmas cactus, by Austrian-born artist HUGO NOSKE (1886-1960). Noske was born in Vienna and was a very talented artist, perhaps best known today for the technically accomplished, wonderful woodblock prints of floral subjects, often specifically cacti or Christmas cacti, on tissue-like Japan paper. This is one of those prints. Measurements are 12" by 13 1/8"...

A large, impressive watercolor of the American Southwest, featuring a temporary water course in the otherwise arid classic landscape (as one would see a flash flood after a sudden summer monsoon cloudburst) with reddish butte at center. The work is signed at lower right "R. Rucker" and dated there 1997. Measurements are 20 1/2" by 27 3/4" (31 1/2" by 38" in white laminate style frame). On reverse slip of paper, perhaps by the artist, is written "A River Runs Through It" (!!!)...

A group of three etchings of New York City subject matter, each pencil signed and titled by the artist LEON LOUIS DOLICE (1892-1960). The three titles are "Fish Market", "Metropolitan Tower", and "NJ Waterfront". "Metropolitan Tower" is the largest, the printed area measuring 10 1/4" by 7 1/4"; the other two are 7 1/2" by 6" (printed area). Interestingly the prints are all printed off-center or otherwise at irregular angles on the sheets...

An accomplished colored pencil drawing of a watery landscape, the sun reflecting off those waters, 6 1/2" by 4" (17 1/2" by 15" framed), signed in pencil lower left by the noted American artist CHARLES MELVILLE DEWEY (1849-1937). Circa 1960 oil on canvas painting of the familiar and oft-painted Moulin Rouge night club in the Montmartre section of Paris, 12" by 16" (18" by 22" in the pleasant period frame), signed at lower right by mid century Parisian artist H. PIERREL. I do not see a formal "listing" for the artist, although I have encountered other works by this talented hand. The painting should bring back memories of voyages past, and should please any true Francophile...

A man carrying a load of firing wood followed by his faithful dog, a solitary cow standing near its barn in the background, a man leaving the side door of his house carrying a bucket, and a man and woman leaving the home in a sleigh carriage driven by two horses down a country road – all orchestrate to create the nostalgic beauty which Currier and Ives created as the nation attempted to forget the pains of the Civil War.
