This is a stunning, classic plein air style seascape painting (24" by 30", 29 1/2" by 33 1/2" as framed) signed at lower left by California master artist HENRY LEOPOLD RICHTER (1870-1960). A probable original title, "SURF", is written on the stretcher. The handling of color, motion, and especially the balance of sunlight and shadow is quite impressive. Having viewed a number of other works by the artist online, this one really seems to stand out...

By the hand of listed American artist HUGO MELVILLE FISHER (1876-1946), an impressive oil on canvas painting of the vegetated banks of a river on a spring day, 23" by 27" (31" by 35" attractively framed), signed at lower right corner in red. The impressionist, rich, IMPASTO technique (as in the tree's leaves) is impressive and skilled. Fisher, the son of artist Hugo Anton Fisher, was born in Brooklyn in 1876, moving to Alameda, California at age 8. He spent two years in Hawaii...

A great pair of reverse painted coaching artwork. Displayed beautifully in burl and eglomise frames. First painting shows coach with huntsman heading from London to Oxford. This print Z-446B was one of a small number of creations that he put on hard, gold-edged board. Daniel Tretiak wrote that these prints “were printed first on very thin paper, which was then ‘wrapped’ around heavy shikishi board. They are lithographs not done from wood blocks. Done in 1999, this work measures 7.25in x 8.25in, is in excellent condition, and one of an edition of 77.
