Re Framed fresh landscape signed American original oil painting on canvas depicting redwoods or sequoias- California Pacific Northwest trees in bright burnt sienna and spring green. Bold romantic American modernism approach. Spotted owls, a sweetly monogamous bird, are one of the few birds that seem to do well among them, as the thick canopy and bark tannins are not conducive to most insect life, needed for most other birds to thrive.

This is a rather large oil on canvas work, 30" by 39" (43" by 34" as framed), signed at lower right "DeShazo", the subject a landscape with houses, church, and lonely leaning telephone pole. The work is not titled and the artist is not apparently listed...
An American 19th century oil on canvas still life, circa 1870-1890, measuring 10" by 16" (12 1/2" by 18 1/2" as framed), unsigned, featuring a metal pot with green and red apples, a pitcher, and a glass, in the classic style of nineteenth century American still life art. I wish the artist had signed his or her work, as he or she was quite skilled. The painting has a patch on the reverse, approximately 3 1/2" by 2", corresponding to a repair in the red apple...
For the collector of classic California Plein Air art, an oil on canvas work, "Laguna Waves", 20" by 24" (27 1/2" by 31 1/2" in quality reproduction gold frame), signed at lower right by well listed and often-auctioned CHRISTIAN VON SCHNEIDAU (1893-1976). The painting features true impressionist brush strokes and colors, enhanced by a recent professional cleaning which really revealed those beautiful strokes and colors. Von Schneidau was born in Sweden of noble birth...
Oil on canvas, 12" by 16" (17" by 21" as framed---and likely original frame), signed at lower right by popular listed California artist HERBERT SARTELLE (1885-1955). This is a classic autumn scene of large trees and a lake with distant mountains, executed in Sartelle's unique impressionistic style. The painting probably dates to the 1940s or 1950s. It is in generally good condition, with the typical large cracking seen in a number of his paintings, (visible especially in the sky---see photo)...

This splendid oil on board renders a charming cape cod house overlooking the ocean. There is a road passing to its front. It is all too serene and peaceful. Given the calmness of the waves, speculate that the ocean is the Pacific. It is signed E Harkins in the lower left. Its simplicity and unpretentiousness reminds me of Edward Hopper's or Andrew Wyeth's work. It is truly an understated gem.
Dimensions: 12" w, 9" h
The only imperfection is the slight curvature of the board which would be ...
A small, unframed oil on canvas landscape in a painterly hand, 8" by 10", signed at lower left with what appears as "Round" or similar. Found in Los Angeles, probably by a local talented impressionist painter. This being a standard size, you should be able to easily locate a flattering frame of your choice.
This is an eye-catching work in an electric-orange color palette, signed at lower right by important California painter EDWARD REEP (1918-2013). Painted in what appears to be a mixture of perhaps thinned oil and gouache, the work itself measures 22 1/2" by 13 1/2". It was found in a narrow modern green plastic frame that contrasts dramatically with the bright orange of the work itself. Signed boldly at lower right, this painting is on board. The family happened to have seen this online and ...
Painting on canvas of urban skyline with foreground boats, painted in modern and stylish grays, black, white and red, signed at lower right "LF Mark" or similar. The piece, in strip typical late sixties or early seventies frame, measures 18 1/2" by 26". Condition is very good save for a small puncture at lower left that actually blends in with the design and is not all that easy to find. Frame at left and lower right is also ever so slightly askew. Would make a tasteful addition to your Mid ...
