20th Century American School 1900-1999 American Artists This is the third watercolor and gouache painting that we recently acquired. All park scenes, all painted on a blue toned paper, nicely framed with archival materials. We are unsure who this artist was, most likely one of the mid 1930's American Illustrators. The image measures 8 1/4X5 1/4 inches. Unexamined out of the frame. Probably a view in Central Park N.Y.

If you collect early art of the Pacific Northwest, this vintage work might be of interest to you. Apparently unsigned, this multi-sided work measures 11" by 19" (14" by 22" as framed). It is executed on old paper, laid on gray board. The charming scene is packed with detail of horse-drawn carriages, dogs like setters or spaniels, trees, houses, and of course the famous snowy cone of Mt. Hood. There is a folk art element in this painting, springing from the details...

Watercolor on paper painting 9 1/2" by 12 3/4" (14 1/2" by 18 1/2" framed), unsigned, executed on old watermarked paper. The scene is a landscape, perhaps an arid landscape of the west, but it's hard to tell for sure. Certainly it has some age, as the paper is toned (see edge indicating old mat presence in the past) and the reverse is even more browned, with sort of reverse images of the paint...

This great original, watercolor painting is done by one of New Orleans' finest, well-known artist. It features a great adaptation of Bourbon Street in New Orleans, showing the New Orleans Jazz and the well-known jazz bar, "The Cats Meow." The artist is Donabeth Jones, known as "The Hungry Artist," from the Hungry Artist Studio. It is an original, signed and titled. It is framed and matted, measuring 19 1/2" x 16". It is dated '91 and is in excellent condition.

Three small works offered together, all by listed California artist TERESA (TESS) RAZALLE-CARTER (1888-1972). The works, two signed with monogram and one as "Carter", are a small impressionist ocean scene, a landscape of a tree against a sunset, ("Lost On the Salt Flats/August 1971" inscription), and a small Merry Christmas greeting in ink and white gouache. Artist Henry Foote “The Zen Landscape” watercolor 12 x 18” Henry Gilbert Foote (1896-1986) He was raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the son of Emma Green Gilbert Foote and Arthur L. Foote. His parents owned Foote Floral Company which specialized in orchids. He received his art education at the Chicago Art Institute during the '20's and '30's. He was a commercial artist and worked for Montgomery and Ward most of his professional life...

Rudy Burckhardt famous photographer and painter (Swiss-American, 1914-1999) watercolor and pencil on paper depicting a nude female standing with chair in original gallery frame painted in cream enamel. Signed lower right. Press notice on the back from the gallery where this painting was purchased it is also signed by Rudy, it states that the art in this show was painted in the woods where he was staying in 1973. Measures 12 3/8" x 9 5/8" + 1/2" (1.2cm) frame.

This painting of mountains and dwellings is well-painted using traditional techniques that take the viewer from the house in the lower right foreground up through pine trees, rivers and a waterfall to the distant, hazy ink-washed mountains of the upper background. It is mounted on paper with a silk brocade surround and lacquered wooden rollers. The artist's signature is accompanied by a red seal and two spurious imperial collector's seals also in red...

This is a large 20" by 29" watercolor (32 1/2" by 40 1/2" framed) of a 1940's style wood motorboat, the "Aurora" of Glass Island, on a lake or inlet, a number of period figures enjoying the ride, the Canadian Maple Leaf flag at the stern, signed at lower right and dated there Oct. 1985 by the noted Maine-born artist BILL JEWELL (1954-)...

Pastel drawing of trees in early autumn by a large body of water, signed at lower right M. Moore, measuring 13 1/2" by 19" (21" by 26" framed). The viewer is reminded of Canadian art--landscapes of Ontario in the fall, for example--though this might just be a generic scene from the imagination of the artist. A colorful original work with considerable decorative quality. The drawing is slipping around a bit under the mat so will have to be re-affixed to backing.
