Haku Maki did a wide range of works: prints of many sizes, book plates, greeting cards, and postcards. Here are four postcards that he did in 1999. They are lithographs, each signed and with a Maki seal. They also appeared as prints at the same time. Haku Maki or his family produced them in the last year or so of his life.

This is a fine, limited edition wood engraving by the highly regarded American artist THOMAS WILLOUGHBY NASON (1889-1971). The print is signed in pencil at lower right and dated there 1956, when the artist was 67 years old. At lower left in pencil is "Ed. 100". Nason was a Boston-born artist who by the late 1920's had taught himself the fine art of creating prints in the wood engraving process...

In 1968 and 69 Haku Maki produced Poem 5 for Festive Wine. That image was a paradigm of clarity as to what the kanji or Woman ought to look like. It was a smooth svelte character. Yet at this same time, he also did this print, a tall gangly woman. It is Poem 69-50. She looks as if she is askelter, not all “together”. Or is the left leg longer than the right one? The print itself is done in the Maki manner: Size 10.5 “ x 10.5”...

Anders Zorn 1860-1920 Sweden This is an original etching by well known Swedish artist Anders Zorn. The title is: Dal River, created and printed in 1919. This impression measures 7X4 5/8 inches, printed on a medium weight laid type sheet. hand signed in pencil lower right. This image appears in the Asplund catalog as image number 284. One of his series of nude bathers that he is well known for.

This is a wood engraving print titled "Les Visages", by the important French artist GEORGES ROUAULT (1871-1958). The print measures 7" by 8 3/4" inside the mat (13 3/4" by 15 1/2" as framed). I believe that this is from the edition published at a later date (circa 1960's) by the Collectors' Guild of New York; the print is dated in the plate 1927, and signed in the plate at lower right. The condition is very good with even very light toning of the paper...

Peter Moran, American, 1842-1914, "Through the Meadows". This is a beautiful, richly inked original etching by Peter Moran, image size 13 x 19 7/8 inches, published in 1886 by Klackner. It is state IV/IV, cat: Wright-92, pencil signed and titled on the lower margin. This image is listed with the title "Through the Meadow Stream" in the Wright catalog, although there are several alternate titles including the one that appears on this impression.

By Hungarian Artist Bela Szikiay, and dating to the 1930's, this fine etching measures 16" x 11", with a sight size of 11 3/4" x 8 1/4". It is affixed to a folded mat with backing, and is in good condition, with some minor foxing on the mat and one spot on the print, visible in the sky in the upper right area. This is a work of American illustrator artist JAMES REYNOLDS (1896-1996). The imagery of flowers and leaves reminds of the work of American twentieth century artist Charles Burchfield. Reynolds is often confused in art auction records and biographies with western American contemporary artist James Reynolds.

This silkscreen offering is said by some to depict Kabuki make-up. It is 8sq inches and in excellent condition. See picture 4, the title, where Maki seems to have written Kuma 92/--his numeral 1 was usually a straightforward vertical 1.

Print by Helen Hyde titled "Daikon and the Baby", dated 1903, woodblock print on very thin, fine paper, size of printed area: 6" high x 3" wide.

This is Maki's print 71-2, which tells us it was the second print that he created in 1971.
