By the listed South African modern artist STANLEY NKOSI (1945-1988) is this PAIR of charcoal on paper drawings celebrating the nobility of manual laborers, identically framed in silvery metal, the drawings measuring 22 1/2" by 17 1/2", both signed at bottom and dated there "73". Nkosi was an interesting figure. Born in Natal he moved to Dukathole near Germiston in the Transvaal (now Gauteng)...

This listed artist was active in the New York City and Northern New Jersey area at mid century as an illustrator, landscapist, and portraitist. **THREE** identically framed watercolor paintings of classic Greek scenes, each signed at lower left by well listed Greek artist KONSTANTINOS SOFIANOPOULOS (1910-1990). The subjects are small boats or fishing boats, with scenery beyond, including a cliffside temple, in one. As framed, they measure 21 1/2" by 17 1/2" each. The watercolors themselves measure 10 1/2" by 15". Signature is in Greek, and dates appear to be in the 1970's (last digit difficult to decipher in some)...

The print is not laid down, but is taped to the mat, at the corners, on the reverse side...

Watercolor on paper painting of the architecture of old New Orleans, 14 1/2" by 5" (21" by 11 3/4" framed), signed at lower right with the typical signature of well known illustrator artist ADOLPH KRONENGOLD (1900-1986). Kronengold was educated at Tulane in the 1910's, and in New York and Philadelphia, where he was a Daniel Garber pupil. Information I have seen online states that he established art schools in New York and Alaska...

An oil on canvasboard painting of the California desert, painted in unusually pastel-y color palette, signed at lower left by artist Alzira Maria. The piece, 22" by 28" (28" by 34" framed) features an almost Cubist handling in the distant mountains, reminding of artists such as Andrew Dasburg. The painting is clean and wall-ready. Frame is attractive distressed wood style, and liner and gold fillet are in good condition.

Japanese limited edition sosaku hanga “kappa-ban” (stencil print) by Yoshitoshi Mori (1898-1992) titled “Onna Joruri” features a female performer singing traditional narrative music to the accompaniment of a shamisen. The print is pencil-signed “Y. Mori” at the lower left, with the artist’s red seal above. It is dated ’73 and numbered 56/70. The lower edge of the paper also contains the title and the original purchase price of 70,000 yen...

A vintage (mid century) watercolor painting of a very old stone church in Central America or Mexico, signed at lower left "Gil". The work is very nicely painted by an obviously talented watercolorist. Note the tiny figures in the composition, and the bright spots of color contrasting with the creamy stone of this circa sixteenth or seventeenth century church. Most likely this would be in Guatemala or one of the nearby countries, or in southern Mexico...

Ink on paper, double-sided drawing of cowboys and their horses, 7 7/8" by 10 1/4" inside the present mat (13" by 16" as framed), unsigned, but acquired in Yucca Valley from close friends of the artist who obtained much of his work after his 2005 passing. This is a vigorous and spontaneous work by an obviously very talented artist of the American west. Colt's works have been sold at Bonhams auctions of California art, and Santa Fe dealers offer his work alongside the best of western artists...

This is a large and accomplished watercolor painting of a pedestrian-friendly, appealing street, (18" by 26 3/4", 24" by 44" framed) by the noted American watercolorist painter and much-loved art educator RUTH BADERIAN (1927-2010).
