An original watercolor painting, featuring a ceramic geisha, ceramic bird, and poppies in a bowl/vase, apparently unsigned, twentieth century. The work has been faded by sunlight over the years yet remains interesting. Often confused with artist Lawrence NELSON Wilbur (both auction records and biography almost hopelessly intermingled), this is an oil on canvas impressionist still life painting by the illustrator, Lawrence Wilbur (1897-1960). This listed artist was active in the New York City and Northern New Jersey area at mid century as an illustrator, landscapist, and portraitist. He signed typically with the oblique line below his name, as is seen here...

I do not see a listing for the artist, who likely painted this around the year 1970 judging from the framing and non-glare type glass (which will be discarded before shipping). The piece, on Crescent art board, measures 18 3/4" by 25" inside the mat, and 25" by 31" in worn dark oak framing...

An oil on canvasboard painting of the California desert, painted in unusually pastel-y color palette, signed at lower left by artist Alzira Maria. The piece, 22" by 28" (28" by 34" framed) features an almost Cubist handling in the distant mountains, reminding of artists such as Andrew Dasburg. The painting is clean and wall-ready. Frame is attractive distressed wood style, and liner and gold fillet are in good condition.

Poem 72-47 (road) 32 X 21.5 inches textured paper The sun is the inner part of the kanji for road. This is a very big and stunning Maki print It was done in 1972 at the height of his artistic powers. It depicts the kanji for Road or Way, e.g.the Way of Taoism (Daoism). As if done with a brush, the character whooshes across the well-textured paper. At the middle of the print, Maki has added a White Sun.

Alexander Nay brown terracotta carved figure of a bird,mid 1970s incised brown clay with a hole at back for mounting to a base, base not included. The artist initialed this piece" N 4 "in his usual incised way. Size l 3.75" by 1.5" high there is a slight chip to one edge of its beak as seen in pictures. This is from a very rare group of early miniature pieces most all were initialed in this way...

Watercolor on paper landscape of lush green mountains of Kauai, a mother and her child, palm trees and an historical one story building, the Waoli Social Hall, originally built in 1841 during whaling days as a mission church, the painting measuring 18 1/2" by 25" inside the present mat (presently unframed), signed at lower right "D Williams". The work is not dated but I would guess it would have been created around the late 1960's or early 1970's...
