Oil on canvas painting of flowers in a vase, "Gladiolas", 21" by 18", signed at lower right "Shimo" and dated there 59. The artist is OSAMU SHIMODA (1924-2000). This work came out of an eclectic collection of mostly mid 20th century Hawaiian art, much of it apparently purchased in Hawaii at that time; this one retains an old label on stretcher from Sima's Art Gallery, Ala Moana Center, Honolulu 14, Hawaii...

This pastoral scene depicts sheep in a mountainous area, causing me to believe that it may be European in origin. The artist has captured 6 sheep peacefully grazing on grass, with no shepherd seen. The serenity is enhanced by the calming green of the grass and the blues of the sky and distant mountain. The linen on canvas is mounted on board, and framed under glass in what I believe is a refurbished frame which is generally in excellent condition...

A beautiful fresh example of a 1969 poster featuring the work of famed Mexican artist RUFINO TAMAYO (1899-1991), **HAND SIGNED** by the artist in ballpoint pen at lower left just above the white "Tamayo". The poster commemorates one of many exhibitions of the artist's work at the well-known Bernard Lewin Galleries in Palm Springs and Beverly Hills, California. Tamayo and Lewin had a longtime business relationship, Lewin promoting Tamayo tirelessly...

A fine mixed media work (appears to be a textured gesso mixed with sand), that unusual medium overpainted with orange, white and sky blue in a vertical format, the work signed lower right in ink "B. Rahmi" and dated there 1962. Measurements are 11 3/8" by 7 3/4" **(29 cm. by 20 cm.)**, and (14 1/4" by 10 7/8" framed in a kind of shadowbox arrangement, behind glass and linen liner, in a gold leaf frame)...

A large, impressive drawing on paper, 26" by 42" (30" by 46" in strip framing), the subject "on the range"---cowboys and their cattle on the range in a beautiful, luminous, "Marlboro Man" landscape. The artist signed at lower right and dated the piece 1979. I believe the media used are gouache, pastel, and maybe color pencil, which he was known to employ...basically, a "mixed media" drawing, and very large for a drawing...

A white ink on tan paper line drawing of a young Polynesian woman, signed at lower left and dated there 1956, by the well-known, important Hawaiian modernist artist MADGE TENNENT (1889-1956). The work measures 12" by 9" and is currently unframed, protected just in a sleeve, the backing bearing a rubber stamp of Juniper Arts, Honolulu, Hawaii. Tennent was born in England and led a long and distinguished life in the fine arts...

Original ink on paper drawing of four ducks in flight over a swamp or marsh, circa 1930's, signed at lower right with initials "P.Z.", which appears to correspond with inscription on backing "Painted or sketched by Paul Zeeze". At top on backing, is written "James Zeeze". Online research suggests the name may be found in Minnesota, which would make sense with duck habitat. Measures 10" by 6 1/4" inside the mat and 14 3/4" by 10 3/4" in black strip frame.
