General view with the Snows(?) from Woodland’s Hotel.” Presumably, “the Snows” are the snow-covered peaks of the Himalayas that show more as a line of clouds, but are visible in the distance. The details of the image are sharp at the center, but blur slightly at the edges.

I am reasonably confident that this a bridge connecting Goat Island to the river bank on the American side or possibly a bridge connecting Goat Island to one of the Three Sisters. An albumen photograph of the Sultan Ahmed Mosque also known as the “Blue Mosque” in Istanbul (Constantinople), Turkey by Pascal Sebah taken circa 1880. The photograph is 10 ¼ by 13 ¼ inches (26 by 33.5 cm). It is mounted with clear photo corners in a 16 by 20 inch mat (40.5 by 50 cm). Printed on the photograph from the negative in the lower left, “58. Mosquee Sultan Akmed” and in the lower right “P Sebah.”

Here is a rare and wonderful photo collage of scenes from the building of the Alaskan Highway (completed in 1943.) Original snapshots. The center photo highlights what appears to be the official ribbon cutting; sixteen photos surround it. Below is a cartoon of a bear taking a picture of a man. Not examined out of the frame. 13" x 15".

An original sepia-toned photograph of a middle aged man and his bicycle, with pencil note on the reverse side "Taken on Riverside Park/July 1898 by Sadie Coger", and again on black backing paper "My Dad taken/N New Jersey". The bicycle certainly seems to be quite an advanced model for its time, resembling strongly today's models. There is no glass, frame is simple strip wood, and photo is loose. The Karla Caves are a group of ancient Indian Buddhist rock-cut caves located in Karli near Lonavala, Maharashtra. The one pictured is the Great Chaitya. It was dedicated in 120 CE. A sepia toned silver print of a Bedouin shepherd with his flock grazing on sparsely covered ground below a hill. In the lower right corner is the blind stamp, “American Colony/Jerusalem.” The original dates from around 1920 and this would appear to be a print of roughly that age. The Number 161 is stamped on the back. The photograph is 8 ¼ x 11 ¼ inches includes a thin margin.

An interesting gold filled on silver (?) locket with an engine turned cover on either side lifting to reveal a close up daguerreotype of a well-dressed woman on one side and on the other side of the locket a well-dressed man. They both look to be around forty years old and perhaps since the locket has a stem and ring it was meant to be worn like a small pocket watch by a grown child of theirs. 1 ½ inches diameter, with the stem and ring an additional 5/8 inches long...

The image is almost certainly a tinted salt print mounted between two pieces of glass and matted to appear similar to a daguerreotype. Most of the original paper seal is still on the glass, but where it is missing the edge of a piece of paper is visible between the pieces of glass. It is translucent when held to a strong light...

Unsigned hand-tinted photograph of a stream/pond scene. Image size is 5 7/8 by 3 3/4 inches, mat size is 9 5/8 by 7 5/8 inches. Framed size is 10 1/2 by 8 1/2 inches. Condition is good with a water stain on left side of mat near frame, small white spot on mat in upper right of image. Pre-1940, original frame and backing, very minor damage to lower right frame corner. Horizontal coloration difference is due to lighting when taking photo of framed work, not a flaw.

An albumen photograph by Felis Bonfils (French 1829-1885) showing a group of dahabiya moored on Gezira Island with the original Kasr el Nil bridge over the Nile at Cairo showing in the background. The bridge opened in 1872. Dahabiya were boats for tourists cruising up the Nile to either Luxor or Aswan on trips lasting respectively about forty or fifty days.
