Upper: Ink on gold leaf paper. The calligraphy writing by Jiang Zuo-bin (1884-1942), a political and military figure, and a diplomat during the Republic Period. Lower: Ink and color on gilded paper. The painting was attributed to Tang Xue-shi, signed in 庚午年 (1930). Excellent condition. Re-mounted by the previous owner.

Glass ojime (slide bead for tightening the cord going from netsuke to inro) in a form of tombodama bead in barrel shape with semitransparent body and decoration of Santa Claus, Christmas tree and falling snow. Tombodama can be translated as “dragonfly ball” and the name is thought to come about because when the molten glass is applied to the core bead it resembles a dragonfly’s eye. Beautifully made, very pleasant patina. Diameter 0.72 inches.

This is a beautiful elegant glass ruby red Oscar water pitcher with eight (8) Oscar water tumblers made by New Martinsville glass in the 1950s. The pitcher measures 9 3/4 inches high to top of lip X approximately 6 inches in diameter. The tumblers each measure 4 1/2 inches high. This is a hard set to find, especially with eight tumblers in the set...
