Old (1940's) Japanese Burgundy Color Plique a Jour Cloisonne Enamel Vase with Flowers Marked "Yamamoto Cloisonne" CPO

It is 3.54 inches (9 cm) tall by 2.36 inches (6 cm) wide. It is 101 gram.

It is painted some sort of shellac at the inside. The shellac has since cracks and faded and that is why it has a crazing and dripping look. It has tarnished metal, minor missing enamels, and surface wears and scratches (as seen in the photos)...

The finest servant dolls, Shitei (Shittei,Shicho,Shiccho) from Kyoto, Japan. They are the court servants from Heian Imperial Court and part of Hina dolls displayed for the Girls Day (Hina Matsuri Festival) in Japan. Some damages in the toes of one doll and clothing. The tallest doll is 8 inches tall.

DESCRIPTION: A handsome Japanese hibachi, crafted from a section of kiri wood (paulownia wood) with rounded body and lacquer floral designs. Inside is the original copper liner where coals would be placed for heating or keeping a tea pot warm. Two large peony blossoms are lacquered in gold and orange on the front, with smaller leafed branches on the reverse. Paulownia wood is very light, fine-grained, and warp-resistant, and is often used in Japan for chests and boxes...

Vintage Japanese lacquer kogai style kanzashi - a hair pin - with lacquer decoration of flowers in a stream. Kogai type kanzashi consists of two sticks featuring a design on each end, which tend to be wider than the centre. A vintage Japanese bamboo wall hanging featuring the famous monk Daruma with a proverb attributed to his wisdom. The saying reads Nanakorobi Yaoki or Seven Falls Down Requires Eight Times Up. This is a Zen adage that preaches tenacity and perseverance similar to the round Daruma image shown trying to right itself.

Using old growth bamboo, this art piece was hand carved and hand hewn before lacquer was applied to the saying and the body of Daruma.

Chinese blanc de chine porcelain figure of the bodhisattva of compassion Quan Yin. She is sculpted lounging against an armrest with a lion's face. One of her delicate hands is emerged out from her robes, clutching a sutra scroll. 4 pieces of Nara Uchiwa whose history dates back to Nara period (A.D.710~794). It began as manual side line work of the Shinto priest of Kasuga Taisha Shrine in Nara. The traditional motifs (Tenpyo Moyo) such as peonix, deer, kylin (imaginary animal), dragon, Parrot etc. These four (originally five) were made by Ikeda Gankodo which is only existing maker of it in Nara. She is getting out a lunch box and two tea cups, while the tea kettle is at her feet. Behind them a sheaf of rice and two sickles. Perhaps a modern reference to Jo and Uba, the old couple on the island Takasago who symbolize longevity.

An unframed old watercolor painting of tall trees in a Japanese forest, 19 1/2" by 13", signed at lower right by listed artist TOKUSABURO KOBAYASHI (1884-1949). There is old Japanese yellowed newspaper from THE HOCHI SHIMBUN used as cushioning between the watercolor paper and the old wood backing panel.
