Pair of (1930's) Japanese Cloisonne Enamel Vase with Dragon & Phoenix

Each is 6 inches (15.2 cm) tall by 2.2 inches (5.5 cm) wide. Total weight is 289 gram.

One of the vase has loss of enamel, bruises, and cracks at the lip and side. Another vase has a possible repair at the base (as seen in the photos).

This piece is carved in deep relief with a classical scene depicting a princess dancing before the peasants , an oldman and a child as well as a buffulo in the countryside welcoming her presence. Should be of 20th century made, vintage piece, not antique. It has some worm holes and small cracked.

DESCRIPTION: A beautifully painted, very large Mexican charger (or platter) with a dark blue outer rim framing two birds perched in a tree, surrounded by scrolling green foliage, large flowers and yellow fruit. Dating from the 1960's, on the reverse is written "Mexico"; the back is pierced with holes for hanging. Excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. Japanese Tsugaru / Wakasa lacquer box and six coasters, early 20th century lacquer work with a speckled and metallic surface, an old Honshu speciality. The pattern is rhombic, the lid of the box gold or bronze coloured, the coasters a reddish brown. The back of the coasters is black and slightly structured.
