The production dates back to the early 18th century. Onta ware is closely associated with Mingei folk art. The earth for the pottery is found in Onta in the mountains. It normally comes in the form of rocks and needs to be ground to a pulver...

This pretty green Roulette, aka Many Windows, 10 Ounce Footed Tumbler was made by Hocking Glass from 1935 to 1939. This Tumbler measures 5 1/2 inches high X 3 1/2 inches in diameter across the top. Liu Yucen Republic period famille rose porcelain plaque Early 20th century Chinese Republic period famille rose porcelain plaque, the enamel decoration including a pair of finches perched on a flowering prunus branch, inscribed upper right Liu Yucen and two seals of the artist. 21.5"h x 12.75"w, overall size including frame 24"h x 15.5"w x 1"d.

This very well designed and carved overlay glass snuff bottle is a 1970’~1980”s product. The red over bubbled milky white snuff bottle is 2 ¾” high, 2 1/8” wide and 1” thick. Both sides have the same design which depicts a pond scene with carp, butterfly, a lotus blossom and leaves. It has an orange carnelian cap. It is in great condition.

Huanghuali altar table decorated with carved decorations. The altar table has a square maize design repeated around the base of the table. The legs are decorated with carved panels of dragons climbing through clouds. The Huanghuali table top is very beautiful with strong grain patterns. Late Republic period. The size measures 33.5" tall 64" long 16" deep.

A carved horn cocktail pick set in the form of a flying bird that looks rather like an albatross. The bird has inset glass eyes. The natural coloring of the horn is used to good effect in the bird’s wing and tail feathers. The set is completed with a holder containing ten cocktail picks with horn finials. Cocktail pick holders (“porte-piques”) were once a fixture on the bar of every café in France and were sometimes used in the home as well. Horn sets were popular in the 1950s...

A rare "famille rose" dragon and phoenix decorated bowl with an inscription dedicating it as a 60th birthday gift from Ma Tao Yu to Xiong Gong - otherwise known as Chen Zhao Ying (1888-1977), who was a senior military leader of the Guo Min-dang (Kuomintang) between the years 1911 to 1932 and who was very close to Sun Zhong-shan and Jiǎng Jièshí (Chiang Kai-shek)...

Moonstone is the name of this opalescent hobnail pattern that was produced by Hocking Glass Company from 1941 to 1946.
