A small metal box which contains an ink stone to grind ink sticks for writing. The box has been cast in brass and has a copper bottom. The ink stone is secured in the lid with a spring frame. The top of the box shows an engraved landscape design with a scholar figure and a hut. By all appearances the box has not been used as it does not show ink stains, and it still has a new looking, temporary, six sided factory mark inside. Japanese glass ojime in a form of tombodama bead with nine yellow petaled flowers with orange stamens, leaves and 24K gold leaf inclusions. Tombodama can be translated as “dragonfly ball” and the name is thought to come about because when the molten glass is applied to the core bead it resembles a dragonfly’s eye. Superbly made piece - see the individual stamens and finely textured petals, in perfect condition. Height 0.8 inches.

This 1970¡¯s Chinese carved polychrome bone statue is 6 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches wide. It depicts a cricket sitting on a Chinese cabbage (Napa). There is a red plant wrap around the bottom of the cabbage. The technique of carving and dying is superb. It is in great condition.

Offered is this rare Orrefors 'Ariel' glass vase designed by Edvin Ohrstrom - the vase has a 'Stress Line' running through it. Via the 'Ariel' technique, Ohrstrom decorated the vase with the 'peace motif' (dove, flowers, etc). The very heavy vase is 6 1/2 inches (16,5 cm) wide and 4 1/2 inches (11,5 cm) high. Properly signed on its polished pontil. Because of the stable stress line (see pictures), this rare vase is offered at a low price .
