A porcelain plate with a gilt edge, embossed border, the molded edge of the well decorated with elaborate gilding centering on a hand painted botanical specimen of a Feverfew; a member of the daisy family. The plant name is written in script in red enamel and the number “857” in gilt are written on the back. The combination of the embossed border, the botanical sample and the heavy porcelain all indicate that the plate was made and decorated at Spode...

SOLD A Worcester mug with flared sides decorated in transfer printed underglaze blue of sprigs of natural flowers. Although it is unmarked the transfer on one side is identical to the one shown on the side of a Worcester marked jug shown in plate 282 of Godden’s Caughley and Worcester Porcelains 1775-1800. The transfers are well printed. 3 ¾ inches (9.5 cm) tall and a little more in diameter across the handle.

Condition: No chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Minor firing flaws...

SOLD An elaborately molded high handled sauceboat decorated with blue transfer flowers and blue transfer border on the interior top edge. There is a large amount of kiln ash in the glaze. 5 ¾ inches (14.5 cm) long, 3 ¼ inches (8 cm) tall and 2 ¾ inches (6.5 cm) wide.

Condition; Hairline crack where the handle joins the body and another short one on the left side just behind the first bump traveling back toward the handle. As mentioned earlier there is plenty of ash in the glaze...

A hexagonal Worcester teapot stand circa 1760 with molded chrysanthemums overlaid by blue painted blossoms which are repeated in a garland formation on the interior rim. Diameter is approximately 5 inches (12.7 cm), and height is approximately 5/8 of an inch (1.6 cm).

Condition: Slight discoloration on bottom. No chips, cracks, or repairs.

The teapot stand is an attractive shape with a nice contrast between the painting and molding.

A silver form porcelain teapot with the vented knop on the lid and the pattern number, “N 195” in red enamel on the base. This pattern is known as the “knitting wool” pattern. 5 ¾ (14.6 cm) inches tall, 9 3/8 inches (23.8 cm) across the handle and spout.

Condition: excellent. A tiny rough spot on the lip of the spout might be a tiny glaze chip or it could be a very small firing loss.

I think this form is one of the most pleasing for late 18th century teapots.

A pair of porcelain dinner plates with molded basketweave edge and swirl ribbing with the lines extending into the well. Decorated with hand painted overglaze flowers and a gilt edge. The style closely resembles Meissen, but these are unmarked. The four ribs in four groups of four is identical with a plate pictured in Godden's book on Coalport that he dates from c. 1805 to 1810. 10 inches (23.5 cm) diameter. Unmarked.

Condition: No hairlines or repairs...

A molded porcelain plate with an overlapping acanthus leaf lip picked out in gilding and blue-grey. In the upper part of the well an exotic bird rests on a branch with green leaves and red berries. On the back are the gold anchor mark, pontil marks and an inventory number applied much later. Like most Chelsea of the period it is quite heavy. 8 ¼ inches (21 cm) diameter.

SOLD An underglaze blue transfer printed porcelain mug in the “Fisherman” pattern with a loop handle circa 1790. Marked on the bottom with a transfer printed “S.” 3 ¼ inches tall, 3 ¾ inches across the handle.

Condition: no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Good clear printing of the pattern in an even blue.

Nice example of a popular pattern that Caughley used on numerous different pieces of porcelain.

Hard paste fluted handless cup and saucer decorated with a brownish purple edge, flowers and a green and black band with elaborate breaks and red bindings. In the center of the saucer three larger flowers and a single flower at the bottom of the cup. Unmarked though probably Champions, circa 1775. Cup 1 ¾ inches tall, 2 ¾ inches diameter. Saucer 4 5/8 inches diameter.

Condition: No chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Very little wear.
