A fine and rare Bow porcelain coffee cup and saucer painted with the "Dragon Chasing (the Flaming) Pearl (of Wisdom). The interior of the cup also shows the dragon, while the exterior of the saucer is painted with clouds. One of the ways to distinguish this early Bow version is the arrow shaped tongue emanating from the mouth of the dragon. Rare large ironstone platter in the Imari taste with a cobalt blue border by G.L. Ashworth, the successor to Mason’s. The platter’s rim is unusually decorated with reserves showing Japanese ladies with parasols and floral elements surrounded by gilding. The central design shows an Asian-themed still life including peonies, lotus blossoms, pagodas, etc. The back is printed with Ashworth’s mark, is impressed “Real Ironstone China”, and has a decorator’s mark.

1817 and 1822. Illustration #82 in “Nantgarw Porcelain Album” written by W.D. John, G.J. Coombes and K. Coombes shows a cream jug in the same pattern. None of the pieces are signed. A shaped rectangular dark blue ground dish with extensive gilding. Birds on the four edges and moths in the corners are painted in conjunction with the gilding. This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced in England by Copeland between 1851 and 1885. The saucer is 4 3/4 inches square and the cup is 2 1/2 inches high. The set has molded decorations in the porcelain. It is made of fine, white bone china. The decoration is inspired by the Japanese Imari pattern. The colors, rust red, cobalt blue, peach and gold are vibrant. Intricate gilded designs accent both pieces. There is gold trim on the rims and handle.
