A beautiful Spode porcelain plate painted with a variety of motifs. The pattern number is not listed in any of the Spode pattern books, nor have I been able to find examples of the decoration. A reasonable assumption might be that this was produced as a "one-off" sample for a larger service that was not completed.

Nicely decorated with hand painted floral bouquets and sprigs on a hard paste porcelain a trembleuse cup, cover and saucer. The rims are dental gilt as are the fruit and leaves knop and two handles. No marks but French in form and decoration from around 1780. Saucer is 6 ¼ inches (15.5 cm) diameter and 1 ½ inches (4 cm) tall. The cup is 4 inches (10 cm) tall and 5 ½ inches (14 cm) across the double handles.

A medium size porcelain bowl with a lattice impressed border at the top and blue hand painted flowers. On the underside are the three waves and the number two, both hand painted in underglaze blue. Additionally there is a hand incised three in the body. This piece must have been early to have escaped the factory with the fairly dramatic warping that must have occurred during firing. Rare large ironstone platter in the Imari taste with a cobalt blue border by G.L. Ashworth, the successor to Mason’s. The platter’s rim is unusually decorated with reserves showing Japanese ladies with parasols and floral elements surrounded by gilding. The central design shows an Asian-themed still life including peonies, lotus blossoms, pagodas, etc. The back is printed with Ashworth’s mark, is impressed “Real Ironstone China”, and has a decorator’s mark.

A pair of candlesticks with a dark blue ground decorated with gilt insects and raised beaded rings. Though unmarked this is a color and decoration that was made by Masons from about 1815 to 1825. 8 inches tall and 5 inches diameter at the base. (20 cm tall and 13 cm diameter at base).
