Ca. 1700s / early 1800s

This circular box is lacquered in brownish black with mother of pearl inlay encircling the lid which is well-fitted to the bottom box. The top is painted in slightly-raised gilt lacquer with two characters: “fu” and “shou,” for happiness and longevity. There is light wear to the edges of the lid, inner rims and to the base, as would be expected, and also a few minor touch-ups...

This is the 3rd of 4 small individual antique Chinese carvings which I am listing separately. This one looks like Shou Lao the Chinese god of longevity, who was often represented along with the immortals. Each has a peg on the bottom which fits into the own homemade stand

A beautiful 19th C. Chinese red cinnabar lacquer lid box is carved with a scene of two elderly sages in a rocky landscape with trees. The sides are carved overall with a diamond pattern. The interior and base are lacquered black. Some minor age crack to the rim, minor retouching of red lacquer to the exterior rims please see the photo. Otherwise is in very good condition. Small Antique Chinese Coromandel screen, 4 panels with scene of children in pavilion setting, inlaid with jade, bone, agate, and mother of pearl on black lacquer ground, details in gold lacquer, Republic Period. Size: 22 1/4" high x 25 1/4" wide x 5/8" thick.

This lacquered leather pillow would have been owned by a wealthy family during the Qing dynasty. Each end has a hand painted floral design with Chinese "well wishing" saying.

This traditional Chinese antique tea container was made from bamboo. The outside has a carved rib design and was lacquered black. This tea caddy would have been used regularly by family and friends during the Qing dynasty. The inside lid is stamped with the manufacturers information.

The tea caddy is 10 inches tall and shows patinated wear marks and chips in the lacquer surface which would be expected on a piece of this age.

From our Chinese Polychrome Collection, a very rare and seldom seen Peranakan Chai Hup or ceremonial vegetable box, 19th century, used for food offerings to Tiangong, the God of Heaven, during traditional Baba Weddings.

The terms "Peranakan" or "Baba Nyonya" or "Straits Chinese" are often used interchangeably to describe the descendants of Ming Dynasty Chinese immigrants who settled along the Malay Peninsula, which encompasses parts of Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore...

This antique Chinese offering cup would have been filled with water for Buddha and left at the temple alter. It dates from WanLi Reign during the Ming Dynasty.

The cup is black lacquer, peach shaped for long life, has a footed bottom, and ornate finger stops on each side. It has several nicks and chips as is appropriate for its age. The cup is 1.25 inches high and 3 inches across at the widest point.

This antique cinnabar lidded jar vase form is surrounded with deeply carved garden landscape scenes with several men and woman including and older man and small child. The carved details of people, plants and house facades are all clear with no loses.

This cinnabar jar is in very good condition. It stands 6.5 inches and 6 inches wide. The word China is handwritten on the bottom, which indicates that the piece was made between 1890 and 1914.

Chinese antique sewing table, black lacquer with beautiful and ornate gold lacquer designs depicting scenes of palace life, interior has many little places for organizing sewing materials all lacquered in black and gold with bone details, a pull out lacquer and silk area underneath for storing embroidery supplies, claw feet, with key, 18th/19th century. Carved in fine detail is this deep red cinnabar box of a scholar with young boy in a garden setting. Made in the traditional method of applying many layers of cinnabar red lacquer, the carvings are deep and well executed. The inside and bottom of this box are black lacquer. Using these Chinese lotus-shaped lacquer tea saucers simplified passing and serving hot tea. Traditional Chinese symbols are delicately painted with copper color over a black lacquer background. There is a double happiness symbol at each end along with clouds, water waves and lucky bat symbol in the center. The back side is traditional Chinese red.
