Confirmed by the experts at Sotheby's in Hong Kong to be the only surviving painting by 13th Century Chinese Southern Song Artist Chen Jue 陳珏(款). Signature and two seals. Ink and colors on silk, framed. 19.5 x 12.75 inches, 49.5 x 32.5 cm.

Charming Chinese ink rubbing of a stone stele depicting a fat cat surrounded by rockery with holes and chrysanthemum flowers after a painting by Jiang Tingxi (1669-1732) that was based upon an earlier work by Ming artist Lu Ji (1477-1505). The painting was attributed to Shao Mi (1592-1642). Shao Mi was a Chinese landscape painter, calligrapher, and poet during the Ming Dynasty. Shao was born in Changzhou County (now part of Suzhou) in the Jiangsu province. His style name was “Seng-mi” and his sobriquets were “Gua-chou” and “Fen-tuo jushi”...

18th century French engraving depicting Chinese palaces in a mountainous landscape. The scene is treated in the Chinese style and it is very likely that the draftsman was Chinese, however, the engraving is French and dates from the 18th century. Many details, beautiful print. No restaured.

Chinese fan painting of a stand of bamboo growing near a group of moss-covered rocks. A poem written in the upper right hand corner says: 细竹千竿満地 which translates as "A thousand stalks of slender bamboo cover the ground". The seal is a bit hard to make out but appears to read: 鄭 Zhèng.
That character seems to also appear towards the end of the text.
The next character after it and in the seal is 名 (míng, 'name')...
A very nice pair of nineteenth century Reverse Paintings on Glass, most probably showing the Qinanlong Emperor and one of its 3 Empresses. The Qianlong Emperor had 3 different Empresses in his life and many concubines. Size: 37,3 x 27,3 cm. Condition: Perfect. No damage in the glass and no damage in the very nice, original wooden frames.

Beautiful Cantonese export painting. Painted with mineral pigment on silk. Popular during the 19th century. In this frame two scenes are portrayed of amorous pursuits with various ways of entertainment in the entertainment quarters. The mood is lively. Some play the musical instruments like the Qin and Mandolin, while others chat or rest on Dali marble chairs. Beautiful flower arrangements are positioned in each scene. There is incredible detail on the faces and details are realistically painted...

I have seen many antique paintings of mountain tigers, but none with this level of realism. This Chinese painting dates late Qing, 1910-1912, possibly early Republic, pre 1920. The seal indicates that it came from a shop in Southern China. It measures approximately 17" wide x 48" high.
Hand colored copper plate etching, trimmed and glued on old cardboard, beneath with an old label in French, written in ink: "Arc de triomphe a Canton en Chine". Designed by P. van Blanckaert and etched by G.G. Winckler in Augsburg Germany, in the second half of the 18th century. Depicting the view of a triumphal arch at Canton. Condition: Trimmed, mounted on cardboard, small but old fissure, lightly stained. Dimension: Etching 27,5 cm x 40,8 cm. / cardboard 35,2 cm x 48,5 cm.

No cracks or restorations were found.

Antique Chinese framed painting of the mythological figure Zhong Kui, commander of 80,000 demons, vanquisher of evil spirits, and guardian of households. He appears to be controlling an unhappy looking green demon with a turtle shell, sometimes called Shui Gui. Two small bats fly just next to the calligraphy on the lefthand side, with red chop by the artist.
