Pair of finely carved wooden panels of the eight Taoist immortals and their attribute. These panels were to be part of a small religious piece of furniture rather than a screen. The wood is left natural, the carving is exceptionally good quality for Chinese woodwork. No traces of pigments, only the edges are lacquered in red as can be seen in a photo. The back of the panels is covered with a red layer of lacquer or oil paint which has cracked and degraded over time...
This carved hardwood cup is 5” high, 4 ½” wide, 3 3/4” thick (both measured from the top). It is an early 20th century product. It depicts three sages surrounded by a river scene. Two sages and their young servant are on a boat; one sage is standing on the river bank. A huge rock, an old pine tree and some unknown trees make the scene very peaceful. Aside from a few small crack lines due to the age of the wood, it is in great condition.
Chinese Humo hardwood tiered seal case from 1950's. Has four rectangular stacked shallow trays. Carved lid with scholar painting on a rock with seated attendant. The base is fitted with a handle flanked by guy-dragons.

Antique wooden carving of a Chinese Lohan, which in the Buddhist religion is a state of enlightenment right before becoming a Bodhisattva. He is shown making religious hand gestures called mudra, and wears a painted red robe. His back has a small hollowed compartment into which prayers would be placed. Ming dynasty (1368-1644)

This early 20th century Chinese wood carving of Budai or laughing Buddha mounted as a table lamp is 33 3/4” high, 10” wide and 8 ½” in depth. The wood carving is 18 ½” high, 7” wide and 6” in depth (from the base). The laughing Buddha is raising both arms holding a large lotus leaf which has another small bone carved sitting Buddha attached to the top. The laughing Buddha is not carrying his “cloth sack” on his shoulder; instead, he is stepping on the sack...

The wood statue Shou Xing (longevity) is carved from a part of a tree joint and it is quite heavy. He is holding a staff and a peach. The statue is 11 ½ inches tall, 2 ¾ inches thick and 5 inches on the widest part. It is late 19th century piece. The carving is simple but elegant. There is single Chinese character ¡°Wang¡± which was scratched on the back of Shou Xing¡¯s robe, maybe by collector. There are some crack lines and small chips due to the age...

Fine and unusual Chinese coconut teapot; carved decoration showing shou characters, auspicious objects and clouds; fully zinc lined and in very good condition; circa 19th century
Mask of the "Nuo" esoteric theater representing the character of Heshang, the Buddhist monk, with very expressive features. The mask was carved on wood, then paper was affixed all over its surface, on which polychrome pigments were painted. China, early 19th century, probably earlier. Height: 9 13/16" (25 cm). The mask is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand. Paper partly flaked, and consequently the colors, otherwise very good condition.
Beautiful 19th Century Chinese wooden vanity mirror finely inlaid with Mother of Pearl. The mirror itself can be separately adjusted by tilting back and forth and the position of the 2 feet can also be adjusted by rotating. Condition good. Size: H. 16" (41 cm.) x W. 6" (20 cm.)

A large wooden Christian cross with beautiful lotus and vines decoration inlaid in engraved mother of pearl, originating from Macau, Vietnam or Southern China. Rearside with paper label. Crosses such as this example would have served in the teaching of the Bible in East Asia. Condition: partially chipped rims, center with restaured area (please see photo no. 7).
