Old, Authentic Tibetan Pair of jha-phor, Butter Tea Bowl, Tsampa Bowl, made of Burlwood and finished with silver around the rim for the larger one and on the inside for the smaller, also at the raised foot of the cups. Diameter: 11 cm and 9 cm. High 5 cm and 4,5 cm ca. Tibet, Late 19th cent. The bowls are in very good condition and have a nice patina from use.

Antique Tibetan Buddhist small reliquary in stupa form. Made of glass and covered with gold leaf, this votive offering would have once been housed in a larger container and placed at the foot of an architectural stupa acting as either a funeral mound or housing relics of an important person. The shape, with it's rounded body and terraced lid, imitate the larger stupa, a three dimensional mandala and symbol of Buddha.

Rare Tibetan antique skull drum called a damaru (or damru). Two skulls make up the two sided drum connected in the middle. Two small beads at the end of thin cords attached in the center beat the drum when it held upright and twisted. 17th Century Tibetan Bhaisajyaguru Thangka, 27.75 x 20 inches, 70.5 x 51 cm. Most of these thangka were photographed through glass frames, so there may be a little blurriness. This thankga was in an exhibition at the University of Texas Art Museum.

This elaborate beaded breastplate would have been worn for festivals by a wealthy Tibetan woman. The main section has 3 ornate silver and turquoise ornaments surrounded by a raised beaded coil which is bordered with cowrie shells. The neckline rolled and padded.

It is 13 inches across at the widest point and can be tied around the neck using the attached fabric ties. As is obvious in the pictures, there are a couple areas of lose on the turquoise ornaments.

Statue of Kubera, the God of Wealth and Prosperity, wearing diadem and formal attire, sitting on a dais. The god holds the Buddhist umbrella in his right hand, while he holds the mongoose that spits the jewels in his left hand. The statue is made of gilt copper, with a nice green and reddish patina in the recesses. Tibet, 18th century. Height: 4 7/8" (12,3 cm). Very good condition.

A very fine quality antique 19th century, Islamic, Indo-Persian, lacquered papier mache bowl of lobed circular form, with a scalloped rim on a raised circular foot. It has 26 lobed petals superbly hand-painted in gold and various pigments with flower sprays, foliage, and teardrop-shaped paisley motifs. The lower rounded body is finely hand-painted with floral sprays and perching birds (gul-o-bulbul, roses and nightingales). The interior of the bowl is fitted with a brass lining.

Unusual Jackwood paan (betel) tray with well carved Kandy style floral medallion in the center, this motif also emulates carvings on pillars in some ancient temple. This is a large and early Buddhist applique textile, dating to no later than the mid-19th century. The design consists of a double-dorje centering a "yin-yang" emblem, representing the masculine and feminine principles of the universe. The piece is complete and intact with minimal wear as one would expect. It measures just over 30" in diameter. Textiles such as this one are exceedingly rare and seldom found.
