It is 1.2 inches (3 cm) tall by 2.75 inches (7 cm) wide. It is 54.9 gram.

It has rubbing and peeling of paint and lacquer, wrinkle lacquer, chips to the lacquer at the rim, a small chip at the rim, stains, traces of glue at the bottom of the box, and surface wears and scratches (as seen in the photos).

A pair of lacquered iron abumi (Japanese stirrups) decorated in fine gold and nashiji (pear skin) lacquer on a roiro urushi, black lacquer ground. Each carries a Tokugawa aoi crest (three hollyhock leaves in a circle) within scrolling leaf background, the bottom constructed with wood pieces within an iron frame which made it lighter, thus gave a better control. Edo period (17th/18th century).  9" high, 5 1/4" wide.

An Early Japanese Bronze Mirror, Kagami, Circa 1600. (No.1) This bronze mirror (kagami) was almost certainly made in the Momoyama period. It has a turtle (minogame) as a central boss, pierced for a cord. It also features a pair of cranes, their beaks touching the head of the turtle as in the act of kissing.
