A complete Tausug raw silk sash (kandit) with long fringes. Tapestry weaving with geometric and zigzag design from the Sulu Archipelago near Mindanao in the Philippines. A Pwo Karen woman's tunic completely embroidered with lozenge-shaped and zigzag pattern, accentuated with Job's tears seeds. Condition: few loose threads, clean. Dimension: c. 65 x 53 cm. Ikat sarong from the upland Karen (Pwo or Sgaw) ethnic group in Northern Thailand. This is woven from all handspun cotton thread and natural dyes. Acquired in the 1980s, it has never been used and as such may be described as being in pristine original condtion. The cloth coming these people nowadays, are nowhere near this quality. W: 87cm/34in and L: 152cm/61in.

Semi antique Timor sarong made from all natural dyes and handspun cotton circa 1950/1960. Both top and bottom have “buna” weft embroidered panels. There is 7cm x 4cm piece missing on one edge, noted in enlargements. L: 110cm/43.2in and H: 103cm/40.5in.

Rare men’s loin cloth from the Northern Chin, Haka group Burma. Mantle of Merit: Barbara Fraser has a good write up on these, and has a couple of pieces dating to late 19th to early 20th century, she also writes these were rarely used after 1950 circa first half 20th century. The two end panels are different colors of which the lighter blue colored is original while the darker piece.. Made from hand spun cotton with silk patterns...

A mounted hand-woven Malaysian Songket head cloth from the Palembang region of South Sumatra. Weft ikat, supplementary weft weave, silk and gold thread with natural dye. The red ground of the cloth with resist dye floral medallions and gold thread rosettes, bordered with geometric zig zag patterns These Songkets were traditionally hung from a wedding bed to announce the wealth of the family, and were also worn during religious ceremonies...

Very fine, signed, men’s blanket from the Biboki, Feotle'u area West Timor, Indonesia. The the name of the weaver’s family, were woven into this. W: 114cm/44.8in and L: 186cm/73in, except for the yellow and blue lines this is woven from all naturally dyed handspun thread. Dating circa 1950 to 1960.

Antique framed Balinese kampuh songket, a men's ceremonial wrapper cloth, handmade with supplementary weft silk, cotton, gold and silver thread. The red ground cloth with gold and silver thread motifs of pairs of robed standing figures wielding staffs with butterflies, and fierce heads above with gaping mouths, full of sharp teeth and long tongues. The edges are bordered in zig zag patterns, geometric scrolls, and woven script in gold and silver thread...

A wonderful woman's wedding hip wrapper made of cotton with wax resist dyed decoration and gilding. The kepala is showing a peacock on a tree, the badan with two long-tailed birds among flowers. Condition: amazingly good state of the gilding, the left and right edge with some tears and few holes. The badan with a small angled tear. Maybe shortened. Dimension: c. 101.5 cm x 174 cm.
