Genuine antique Shan lacquer box circa late 19thCE. Most Burmese lacquer being offered on the internet purported to be antique are vintage at best and new at worst. I acquired this in Yunnan, China along the Burmese border but of Shan (nationality in China). Although there is some damage the craftsmanship is exquisite which is why I put a grain of sand in a couple of the images to put the work into perspective...

Early 19th C bronze Southeast Asian betel nut cutter in the anthropomorphic form of Garuda, a bird-like creature in Hindu, Buddhist and Jain mythology. Garuda is believed to be a powerful ever watchful protector with the ability to swiftly go anywhere. The blade is slightly bent from years of use, otherwise in very good condition, this cutter measures 6" long, 5" high, and 1.75 inches across the wings.

Very nice late 18th Century Benjarong Porcelain Bowl, especially made in China for the Siamese Court and Nobility. The inside is emerald green with flower decor and a center medallion, whereas the outside depicts 4 alternative Norasingh and Kinaree medallions and a Famille Noire background. Good condition, shiny glaze preserved and the top rim is nicely banded in bronze. 1 very small, minor and inconsequential firing hairline on top rim, only noticeable upon close inspection....

DESCRIPTION: From our Southeast Asia Collection, a large and classic 19th century Burmese Hsun-ok constructed of wood that was first lacquered in black, and then covered in successive layers of cinnabar colored lacquer called hinthabada. Over time, through use and handling, the cinnabar lacquer has worn off in some areas to reveal the black lacquer base coat underneath, resulting in an attractive negoro effect...

A rare and beautifully made lime pot with a crackle glaze. The lime in these pots helped to soften the betel nut, making it easy to chew. Any genuine antique lime pot will show signs of wear and use, those that are perfect, are most likely new. Evidence of a crusty white residue around the mouth should be present, as well as some wear to the glaze. This small lime pot is charming and displays very well. A very fine and rare genuine brass and copper antique THAI FLOWER OFFERING TRAY. 19th Century, with extensive flower and vine scrolling décor. Good condition. Height 9 cm x 10 cm top diameter.

Covered bowl in lacquered wood covered with black lacquer (roiro) decorated with stylized flowers and fans in gold powder. The artist used several shades of gold to give relief to his creation. On the fans are carefully drawn tiny patterns, waves, plants and turtles (minogame) surrounding a moon (or a sun). The textile with central four prong vajra, with vajra corner guards and a simple guard band border. Hand-woven wool with cotton.
