A collection of four small stoneware elephants with different celadon glazes from the Si Satchanalai or Sawankhalok kiln in Thailand. Dimension: tallest: c. 10.5 cm long x 8.2 cm high, smallest: c. 7 cm long x 5.6 cm high. Condition: two elephants with slightly chipped ears.

A buff-terracotta vessel, with rounded body, tapering cylindrical neck with ribbed collar in relief and everted molded rim, the shoulder incised with concentric circle bands. An antique set of four Indonesian betel nut cutters. Three of the smaller cutters are made with mixed metals and iron; One with the head of a goose, one with the head of a serpent, and one shaped as a peacock. The largest of the set is hand-carved into a playful dog.

The practice of betel nut chewing is common in many parts of South Asia. Slices of the areca nut would be wrapped in betel leaves and chewed, giving a mild stimulant effect...

An ornate silver betel box with open-work patterns of curling tendrils. The body and lid each have five panels with high relief work depicting 10 different scenes of ancient Burma. The top of the domed lid has a lotus blossom. The bottom is hammered with the date and occasion for the piece.

In one hand he holds a mongoose, who is said to spit jewels. The mongoose shows rule over the Naga (malevolent snake people and guardians to vast treasure). Kubera is shown seated on his vehicle, a large beast atop a lotus pod throne.
