An incredible work of florals on gold signed on the base Kutani Kaburagi Sei showing the very best of that regions pottery dating from the Meiji to Taisho period, when quality and craftsmanship was at its peak. There is a small tori-ashi (birds foot) glaze crack in the bottom but does not leak, and is only visible on the outside bottom.

Japanese TAISHO Period carved wooden RANMA of dragon. The dragon is beautifully carved in high relief and with great detail. The back of the RANMA is also carved and has a rectangular placard with the inscription: TOKYO SHINTOMI-CHO, CHOUKOKU NIN, TAISHO SAN NEN NI GATSU, GOTO SUKEYOSHI, which translated means, Shintomi Town of Tokyo, presently the Ginza area of Tokyo, February of the 3rd year of Taisho (1915), carved by Goto, Sukeyoshi. The RANMA measures about 79" long, 12" tall and 6" thick.

Steam coils about the petit young woman at the public bath, a fine Taisho era painting signed Ikuho. The color blends into the silk, leaving a soft edge enhancing the sense she is being viewed through the steam and heat of the bath. Pigment on silk, mounted later in green patterned cloth extended with grey and featuring wooden rollers. As pictures of nudes were forbidden, Ikuho is likely a pen-name, possibly taken from Ikuho Street in Northern Kyoto city where the artist may have resided...

Of solid cast bronze, and weighing 10 pounds, this simply detailed Buddha measures 12 3/4" from feet to top of ushnisha, and 13 1/2" including wood base. This Buddha is classicaly Sri Lankan, from the elegant and thin form to the flame or Sirispata Ushnisha on the head. Nicely detailed, with a deep brown patina, the figure is in excellent condition, with a minor loss to the central flame tip, visible in photos. Very striking in size and style, it appears to date to the early 20th century.

A group of three clambering turtles in fine detail dating from the opening of the 20th century (later Meiji) stamped on the base Keishin and enclosed in a period wooden box. The group is roughly 8 inches (20 cm) long, 3 inches (7.5 cm) tall and in fine condition but for one old chipped toe on the back foot of the largest turtle (see close-up).

The vase is large at 13 inches (33.5 cm) tall, 8-1/2 inches (22 cm) diameter and is in excellent condition, with some wear to the gold rim.
