Measuring just under 8" high, and 12" including the wood stand, this Santo head is exceptionally well carved, with fine detail and life like features to the face. The eyes are cast upward, and the pupils are carved in a concave manner. Most of the face and beard retain the original gesso and paint, with more loss to the back of the head, and most of the paint in the eyes is gone. Beautifully sculpted from one piece of wood, this horse and rider sail effortlessly over a fence. The sculpture measures 16" high, approximately 19" from end of board to tip of horses nose, and the wood base is 13 1/4" x 4 1/4". The two back legs are one piece, just to support the body of the horse and rider.
