A large 17th to 18th century Buddhist sculpture of a Rakan (arahat), well sculpted, his naked torso gilded in gold with robes and shoes in black lacquer, carrying a large urn which is an active incense burner. The sculpture is 2 feet (61 cm) tall and in overall fine condition. There are minor losses to the lacquer and gilding typical of age, and a repair to his left foot. Nicely rendered and cast, with good detail in face and mane, this Roman bronze applique or roundel dates to the 1st to 3rd centuries AD, and measures 2 3/4" (vertical) x 2 7/8" (horizontal). A very rare and beautifully carved blackwood table. The carvings represent good luck symbols with key fret designs,lingzhi fungus, floral, tendril, and coins. The front and the back are a mirror images of each other, and the two sides also have mirror image carvings on both ends. The legs are straight and not curved as seen in the wide angle photo. A pair of Chinese export porcelain plates with the tobacco leaf motif. Beautifully enamelled with a pair pheasants and two squirrels amongst bold overlapping leaves and flower sprays, in blue, other colors and some gold. Foot rim with some kiln grit.
