A beautifully Qing dynasty enamelled pink-ground "famille rose" bowl with seal mark and period of Hsien Feng (1851-1861) and of the period. Brightly painted with alternating upright lappets surrounded by meandering foliate and branching leaf on an incised with a wave like pink background. The interior of the bowl is evenly applied with light turquoise enamel.

There are no sign of cracks or chips...

A figural painted wooden gun powder flask in the form of a Makara with a maiden holding a pot, protruding from its mouth. Missing stopper. Condition: lost stopper, paint with some wear. Dimension: c. 19 x 17 cm.

A very unusual painting reflecting the oddities of western influence at the opening of the 20th century by Matsumoto Ichiyo (1893-1952)...

Ancient Chinese Buddhist Pottery Amulet - Ming Dynasty

This is one of a group of moulded pottery tablets that we bought about twenty years ago. They are made from a relatively high-fired pottery and have a surprising amount of detail, including the sun and the moon in this example...

Qingbai double gourd ewer with stylized dragon handle with an iron brownish splash on the neck ; bluish white glaze stopping above the base which is concave and unglazed. Yuan Dynasty 13th-14th Centuries. Height = 14 cm, Width=14 cm. Condition : handle restored.

A nice and quite rare globular form jar with small mouth rim, decorated with main pattern of 'ruyi' scroll to the body. Condition is perfect excepted minor glaze flaw, no chip/no crack and free from any restoration. Ming dynasty 15th century. High: 6.6cm and Body wide: 7.3cm

Description: A religious oil painting on canvas was made in 19th Century from the minority people at southwest region of China. A piece of art from Dian people of Guazhou or Yunnam Province, this painting was displayed with bold colours. Sketched freely but regulated as well, it is in astonishing beauty.

Description: A northern stoneware was intriguingly applied with russet oil-spots glaze. In a lovely size, the bowl was molded regularly in well proportion. While with a charming glaze effects on the inner and outer surface, the bowl’s foot ring was unglazed and was revealed with the meticulously applied protection coating on the body clay. The sandy-feel protection slip cracked in some way and reveal the white clay underneath. Date: Jin to Yuan period(13th-14th century) Width: 8.2cm.

Large Chinese Qing dynasty pewter round form sweetmeat tray for holding desserts configured with eight famille rose barbed point petal shaped dishes surrounding an octagonal dish at the center to form a foliate shape. Two jade mounted handles...

A fine 18th century Chinese molded celadon-glazed porcelain dish, finely decorated continous chrysantemum scroll around the center with encircling a chrysantemum spray, a band of key-fret pattern around the foliated rim, covered overall in green glazed. DATE : Qianlong (1736 - 1795). SIZE : D = 26.5 cm CONDITION : very good condition, no chips, no cracks, two hairlines and no repairs.

A Beautifully carved tube shaped jade. It is hard to date this piece and cannot say that it is from the Hongshan period (3000BC). It is most likely from a later period as these item are extremely rare. It is not know what these were used for but it is thought to be for the hair ornament to hold the pony tail. Size: L. 8cm. It is 54 cm (21 inches) tall 36 cm (14 inches9 diameter and in excellent condition, signed on the base...

Large wooden prayer beads from Lhasa with nine glass bead spacers and two leather counters with ten silver rings each ending with silver inlaid mountain coral and turquoise.The wooden ones are made from the wood of the Bodhi tree where Buddha received his enlightenment. Total length of the beads 76cm. This does not include the counters. Condition: All original.

A square cover made of very delicate red silk with the design of small flowers, lancet-shaped leaves, "mir-i-boteh" pines and tendrils, entirely embroidered in polychrome silks and silver wrapped thread. Purple silk lining with loops. Condition: clean, fabric with losses and splits, partially with backed and restored areas. Dimension : 119 cm x 117 cm.

Rare Chinese Ming Dynasty Monochrome Moulded Porcelain Wine Cup

This rare porcelain wine cup was made during the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644) or possibly a little earlier. To the lower body is a band of moulded Buddhist rui lappets together with a moulded seal mark within the foot. The white porcelain body is particularly translucent, highly-fired with a high-pitched ring when tapped.

Diameter 5.5 cm, height 3.5 cm...

Koi frolic, splashing gold and silver waves as they leap and battle for the top of this stacking food dish dating from the later 19th century. The design is striking! Outside is polished black loaded down with gold and silver maki-e with applied kirigane cut gold squares. Inside is festive red. The box (assembled) is 25 x 23 x 38 cm (10 x 9 x 15 inches). Some minor dings but overall, very nice condition for something which has seen use.

This estate piece is a superb Japanese Imari plate, Meiji Period, having a central medallion and eight panels, scalloped gilded edges, white ground with hand painted polychrome floral and brocade decoration, red mark, blue and rust color design on underside of plate. Good-excellent condition, some wear to gilt, measures 8 3/8" diameter.

Description: A soapstone Guanyin of Qing Dynasty was finely rendered. In a seating posture, the holy deity was holding a scroll in her left hand. On her right lap, a string of rosary was hanging from her right hand. By characteristically carved almond-shaped eyes, the facial features and the reserved pigment, the figure was dated as from 18th century. Height: 12.4cm, Condition: An old restoration was in the neck when an crack line-like stone tissue was subtly revealed across the body...

An antique wood statue of the Boddhisattva Wei Tuo, the guardian of the Buddhist principles, dating to the late Qing dynasty. Carved in two parts with gilding and red color. He is standing on a rock imitating base, dressed as a warrior and holding the vajra staff. Condition: one hand with tiny losses, parts of scarf missing, top of helmet with a lost insert, vajra staff, one hand and back with glued patches. Dimension: total height: 38.5 cm, figure: 31.5 cm, weight: 1300 g.

A patinated bronze okimono of a young woman with a beautiful face, dating around 1910. On her back a large basket and in her hand she was carrying a tool. Signed "Seiya" on the base. Dimension: 29.5 cm high, weight: 2.4 kg. Condition: tool broken off, few tiny areas with wear to the patina.

Chinese Song Dynasty Qingbai Glazed Porcelain Dish (Ex. Grahame Clarke Collection)

This beautifully lobed dish was made during the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279) and has the simple stylishness typical of Song Qingbai porcelains. There are some glaze crackles which occurred during the firing, one of which, in the centre, penetrates through to the foot (please note that this not damage). The glaze is of a delicate pale green and has a silky "frosted" feel to it.

Description: A magnificent stone head of Louhan( or Lokapala ) was from 13th century. Unearthed from a relics of a temple near Shichuan, this head piece was preserved very well with original red mineral pigment and gold leaf. In an awesome facial expression, the Budhist saint was rendered finely in the features and showing a strong form that was unusually seen in the Chinese traditional sculptures. A custom made black marble stand was included...

A blue & white bowl, decorated outside with continuously flower scroll and inside the center with "Fu" character within double circle. Early Ming 15th century. Condition: small restored to rim missing (result visible on the last enlargement), further in good condition.

Celadon grey glazed to square cut foot rims and glazed convex base. Song Dynasty 10th-13th Century Height = 5.2 cm Width = 8.5 cm Condition : a chip on the rim.

Description: A circular storage or seal paste box was made of precious Zitan wood. By a whole block of wood, the box was well shaped and hollowed. In a sturdy condition, the cover can be turned to match the basin tightly. Enduring old patina was yielded on the surface. Date: Qing Dynasty(late 19th century) Width: 9.3cm Height: 7cm.

An haunting 17th century sumi-e image of a goose at twilight by Kano Toun (1624-1694) in the original Edo silver threaded brocade border patterned with clouds, upper and lower extensions of heavy coffee colored cloth ending in ivory rollers. The almost complete dominance of white seems to convey a passage through space, from clarity into obscurity, leaving the viewer with a slight sense of loss echoing in ones memory...

8 3/8" high Japanese treebark vase decorated on the front with a landscape motif. Tree-bark (Jitaisome Jippo) is a form of ceramic cloisonne in which the colors are done using lacquer rather than enamel. Using lacquer to cover the porcelain jar to resemble treebark, the wires are set into the lacquer to form the designs and the cells are filled with lacquer and polished. This lacquer is not fired. Dates from the Taisho to early Showa period...

An exquisite large vessel by Seifu Yohei III (1851-1914) enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The mirror smooth surface is lightly tinged pink, a delicate touch only Seifu could create. The Fretwork about the center is absolutely perfect. The vase stands just over 12 inches (31 cm) tall, 5-1/2 inches (13 cm) diameter and in excellent condition...

Small Chinese Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Ox / Bull

This small and attractive pottery model of an ox, or bull, was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It is quite "heavily-potted" and made from a reddish pottery. It has been "cold painted" in a base coat of white pigment on top of which have been applied reddish-brown and red pigments. A pair of Helen Kalvak Inuit screened burlap hunting scene pictures. Kalvak (1901-1984) was from Ulukhaktok, Northwest Territories, Canada and she was inducted into the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts. This was followed in 1978 by her appointment to the Order of Canada. These screened burlap pictures are framed and they measure 18-1/4 x 15-1/4" and they have a sight size of 13-1/2 x 10-1/4". Chinese Northern Wei Dynasty Pottery Horse with Female Rider

This attractive model of a horse and rider was made during the Northern Wei Dynasty (AD 386 - 534). It is made from a grey pottery that has been cold painted in a creamy-white pigment on top of which have been applied other coloured pigments. Note the detail of the female rider's facial features and hairstyle. 

Height 29.5 cm (11.5 inches). It is reasonable to assume that this model has been subject to professional restoration...

A finely b/w wine cup with slightly everted lip rim, decorated with a stylistic and popular both on imperial or private kiln wares with lotus and water plant at the exterior.
