This slender expressive statue represents the right hand of the Buddhist female deity worshiped as Quanyin in China, White Lotus in the US, Tara in Tibet, and Kuan Eim in Thailand, etc. The hand retains much of the original paint remains and is mounted on its own display stand. The hand alone is 14 inches high and including the stand is approx 18 inches high.

 

A rare example of shallow rounded sides with sacrificial red glaze to the exterior and plain white to the interior. A six-character "Da Ming Cheng Hua Nien Zhe" reign mark in underglaze blue within double circle on white base. Condition broken like indicated on the pictures and combined by two other different same type ornaments to be complete in one. Diameter: 21.5cm.

A fine celadon large dish, decorated with incised lotus to the center and fluted sides on cavetto wall, outside is plain. Covered overall with olive green glaze in very good condition, only found a chip to foot rim (visible on the last enlargement) and glaze hairline to the outside cavetto but not crossing to the front side, otherwise is excellent with porcelain body. Late Song to Yuan Longquan ware found in Sulawesi. Diameter: 34cm.

An amber glaze Kendi with everted lip, cylindrical neck and a tapering spout. Fujian 14th century Quanzhou ware founded on South-Sulawesi in very good condition without any damaged, except minor glaze flake to rim an to the tip of the spout. High: 17cm.

A unique piece of zitan wood used as a sample for the scholar's woodworker. This piece is unusual as it shows a very light color of the zitan wood which is probably close to the bark area. There are two holes drilled in the piece for attaching a string for hanging. This piece weighs 550 grams. This is a great item for the zitan collector. Size: L.17.3cm. W.10.3cm. H.2.4cm. Description: A beautiful Huanhuali brush pot was carved from one fine wood trunk. By a fine carving skill imitating the tree trunk, the Bitong was prevailing in the atmosphere of a scholar taste. A pair of Cree stitchwork leather gauntlet gloves from the 1930s-40s. This lovely pair of vintage Cree gauntlets or long mittens has fine hand stitch-work floral decoration; they are hand stitched deer hide with cut fringes, and they have a yellow felt interior. An exquisite carved Ivory image of Guanyin with the Buddha atop all hand carved from a very large tusk Measuring 5.5 in diameter 15 inches tall and 18 inches tall with stand. Signed with carved symbol on bottom. A fine example would make a nice addition to any collection.

A decorative Sub-Saharan African knife - possibly from the Sudan - with crocodile styled red leather sheath incorporating real crocodile head. A blue-grey glazed pottery form of a large-eyed turtle. The turtle shell has relief patterns over which a glaze was applied.

A pottery jar glazed with a green lead glaze. Half of it is still green while the other half has oxidized to a silvery iridescent color. The variance in color is due to how the piece was buried and the effect of moisture getting under the surface of the glaze and "lifting" it to give it the pearl-like sheen. We've nicknamed this the Yin-Yang jar because of its unusual natural patterning. What makes this unique is its beautiful silvery- gold iridescence...

A finely decorated enamelled porcelain figure of a lady made in China, probably for export, during the second half of the 19th century - circa 1850 to 1900. Condition very good - two leaves are missing from the flower but no other damages and no restoration...

A Cizhou black-glazed Yuhuchun vase was beautifully decorated with spiral flowers on the body.
By a fine shape and well preserved condition, the vase was verified as a dated piece by the characteristics of the padding residue left at the foot ring and the enduring old russet glaze.
Some burial adhesives were observed.
And some stardust-like incursions had happened to the glaze, under the flaring lip of the mouth rim...

Hotei bows deeply, showing an unusual moment of respect from the surly sage. An unusual bronze image by Oshima Joun enclosed in the signed wooden box. The face is at once relaxed and respectful, one hand wrapped around a gnarled walking stick supporting the heavy bag on his back. All facets are rounded, with a soft, tight orange-peel surface typical of Tokyo school bronzes. The image is roughly 5 inches (12.5 cm) in all directions, and in excellent condition...

Wild roses blossom on the rich tea green sides of this cloisonné vase by the Ando studio enclosed in a custom silk lined padded wooden box with a separate compartment for the rose wood stand (included). The base color is that of maccha green tea, making it doubly Japanese. Each leaf, each thorn each petal is wrapped in a thin silver wire frame. The vase is roughly 10 inches (25 cm) tall and in excellent condition.

A pair of Himalayan masks inset with glass beads originating in either Tibet or Nepal and probably made circa 1900 - 1940. Condition - very good. 8 inches (20cm) high.

Exquisitely formed Hakuji pale porcelain defines this fine vase by Suwa Sozan I enclosed in the original signed wooden box bearing the Teishitsu Gigei-In stamp. Two simple bands match in width the diameter of the large rings suspended from simplified animal head handles. Fretwork in the lower belt provides the only overt decoration. The vase is 12 inches (31 cm) tall, roughly 6 inches (15 cm) diameter and in excellent condition...

Exquisite floral designs rise softly beneath the rich yellow glaze on this large porcelain vase by Seifu Yohei enclosed in the original signed wooden box. Crisp clarity defines the petaled blooms in slight relief blossoming on scrolling vines. A style both Seifu III and IV were well remembered for. It is signed simply on the base Seifu. An exquisitely formed sometsuke porcelain by important Seto porcelain artist Kawamoto Rekitei (1894-1975) with raised patterns of grapes forming on the vine. The delicate shades of the steadily browning grape leaves is easily conveyed by the masters touch, each leaf carefully bordered in a raised border, the dark grapes slowly growing plump in the shadows. Extremely rare longquan celadon dish with dragon motif chasing fish covered with good green celadon glaze, Yuan dynasty. size: 34 cm diameter, dish condition with some crack line and crackled glaze but no damage part on restoration as shown at picture from different color.

Description: A Yueyao covered jar was rarely found with dated inscription of The 25th Year of Saoxing period(AD1155). By a fine pale-green glaze applied all over the surface, the jar was fitted with an interesting cap which imitating the roof of a Chinese building. Other motifs were those like the counting scale by the Chinese characters and the Chinese couplets of –“ The Warehouse is always full, The Selling Store is always open”. It was a fine jar, an interesting piece indeed...

Description: A Zitan brush-rest was beautifully carved as a trove of Linzhi plant. Rested on a fitted boxwood stand from which the patina was in warm old condition and was preserved with the dirt residue due to age, this piece was in perfect condition. An inscription of San-Soon was under the boxwood stand. Date: Qing Dynasty(19th century), Width: 11.6cm, A CUSTOM-MADE SILK BOX IS INCLUDED.

A very rare and unusual root brush pot that is highly prized by the Qing Scholars. This is a very special type of root know in Chinese as "JinJinan" The pot has all the natural openings from the root. Age: Qing, early 18 century. Size: H. 29.3 cm. Diameter at the base. 19cm. Sourced from Rong Jiang area of China, the silver sectioned container was made and used by the Miao ethnic minority as a smoking accessory. Worn hanging from a belt, the collection of pipe cleaning tools would act as a toggle to counter weight the container at the other end. A black-glazed Jizhou bowl was preserved in a fine condition.
By a beautiful grayish image of freely painted plum branch in the cavetto against the black ground, the tea bowl was mold in a typical Wan shape when standing by a flat foot ring which was a strong characteristic for a Jizhou bowl.
The buff-tinted soft-feel paste revealed at the bottom was another obvious characteristic for this dated ware.
