One decent painted jar was well molded in a grand look. By the straw glazed slip on the surface, the well maneuvered sketching motifs- the vibrant peony flowers and spread leaves were vividly rendered in a regular form around the straight wall.
From the freehand but strictly applied brushwork on the surface and the beige body clay revealed at the foot ring, the beautiful ware was authenticated as a piece from Cizhou kilns for sure -but a restricted one...

Description: A Qingbai bottle vase was finely molded. Based on the glaze tint and the body clay's quality, the Meiping vase was justified as a product from the kilns of Fujian Province of Song Dynasty. Pinpoint glaze holes and residues within them were found on the surface. Faint crackles were spread under the glaze. By a simple and beautiful shape, the Meiping was in perfect condition without any restorations. Date: Song Dynasty,(11th-12th century). Height: 15.6cm.

n old bamboo brush pot with unusual zigzag pattern. Age: 18th century. Size: H. 13cm, Radius. 10.3cm. Condition: No repairs. Old chip on the rim, natural cracking along the rims and natural ageing.

This pair of Japanese handmade long square cut nails are 5" long and appear to have never been used. The nail heads are solid and shaped into a hemisphere. The silver colored decorative metal escutcheons have scalloped edges and markings to represent a flower. The escutcheons are just under 1" in diameter and have a squared center hole which exactly fits the nail shank.

A group of three clambering turtles in fine detail dating from the opening of the 20th century (later Meiji) stamped on the base Keishin and enclosed in a period wooden box. The group is roughly 8 inches (20 cm) long, 3 inches (7.5 cm) tall and in fine condition but for one old chipped toe on the back foot of the largest turtle (see close-up).

A very good b/w bowls, decorated each with four phoenix medallions at the exterior supported by unique floral sprays or pomegranate, the interior center with a phoenix medallion within double circle. "Da Ming Cheng Hua Nien Zhe" mark to the base within double circle, but dating to be early Ching Kangxi period ware. A rarely encountered Japanese oversized sosaku hanga woodblock print by Asaga Manjiro (1885-1965) dating circa 1950's. Asaga Manjiro was the elder brother of Maekawa Senpan. He was known for his Noh theater and Otsu-e prints. Paper size: 20 1/4"V x 15 3/8"H (image: 17 5/8" x 12 7/8"). Excellent condition with full margins. Never framed. Traces of paper residue from the original folder remain on the back at the left top and bottom corners.

A seal from what is now Burma/India with carvings of an elephant and a flower. The handle is smooth and well-worn. The ivory has taken on a rich brown color with age.

Description: One elegant elm bowl or water pot was from Changsha kiln of Tang Dynasty. By a very rare type of glazing of iron-greenish mottles amid straw-glazed slip on top and around the mouth rim, the water pot was finely molded with characteristic flat bottom. In a chalk-feel quality, the body clay was left with obvious molding scars and was adhered with excavation mud. Slight incursion was occurred to the glaze and was yielded in a whitish look. Description: An ancient inkstone was from Song dynasty. By a typical sleek shape, the inkstone was carved in a simple and plain form. The obvious carving scars can be easily observed. Pair of Chinese Tang (618-907) to Five Dynasties (907-960) olive-gray glazed Yue ware 10-petal foliate lotus-leaf shaped shallow bowls with flat bases.
