This bell is approximately 200 years old and was used on the camels crossing Tibet, NW China into Mongolia. It would be worn on a strap and hang loose below the camels belly between the legs. A light shake and the sound is deep and long. The bell in picture is 13" long and has a leather wrapped handle.

A humorous looking dragon twists up the paper canvas, eyes on the prize, a tama or Buddhist jewel underlying a dramatically written inscription. What is extraordinary is that the dragons scaled body is performed with a single stroke of the brush! Over this has been added a shadow for the back, and embellishment of the head. Nita A ring of skulls playfully sojourn on the front of this rather unusual deep Edo Karatsu Chawan. On back another pair tumble helplessly over the thick speckled glaze. The base is bare earth, dark and shiny with age and handling. The skulls are not just resist painted on, but are actually incised, the eyes and nostrils set deep into the southern clay. The bowl is 3-1/2 inches (8.5 cm) tall, roughly 4 inches (10.5 cm) diameter and is in excellent condition, enclosed in a wooden box.

Wide-mouthed and with high-set shoulders when the neck is narrowed and the lip is rolled, the jarlet was applied with persimmon glaze inside and out of the surface. This is a medium size blue and white bowl with Three Friends of Winter motif, namely pine, bamboo and prunus tree. The centre of the bowl has a rondal of a five claws dragon. Base with Guanxu (1875 -1908) mark in under glazed blue. Circa late 19th – early 20th century.

This is heavily potted Five dynasties or Northern Song (960 A.D – 1130 A.D) dynasty Yueyao zhadou vessel. It stands on a very slightly splayed shallow foot rim with a shallow recess, everting towards a baluster shaped body and then towards a wide everted mouth rim. This is a charming lobed shaped tea-pot standing on four small individual feet. On one side it has a painting of a pair of sparrow in a blooming lotus pond. On the other side, it has a poem written on it. Circa. early Chinese Republic period 1940s-1950s.
