This pair of handmade woman's shoes were made with cotton vamp and satin stitched embroidered flower motif. The exaggerated upturned front toe was used as a decorative element by several minority groups but from the detailing, I think that they are most likely Miao ethnic minority. They are small and narrow, and probably belonged to a young girl. The Miao, like most minorities, did not practice foot binding. The walking sole measures 6.5 inches long and 2" at the widest part.

A beautifully Qing dynasty enamelled pink-ground "famille rose" bowl with seal mark and period of Hsien Feng (1851-1861) and of the period. Brightly painted with alternating upright lappets surrounded by meandering foliate and branching leaf on an incised with a wave like pink background. The interior of the bowl is evenly applied with light turquoise enamel.

There are no sign of cracks or chips...

A nicely carved natural amber pendant of the hand of Buddha citron with a hole at the top so it can be worn as a pendant. The citron fruit may be given as a religious offering in Buddhist temples. According to tradition, Buddha prefers the "fingers" of the fruit to be in a position where they resemble a closed rather than open hand, as closed hands symbolize to Buddha the act of prayer.
