A unique piece of zitan wood used as a sample for the scholar's woodworker. This piece is unusual as it shows a very light color of the zitan wood which is probably close to the bark area. There are two holes drilled in the piece for attaching a string for hanging. This piece weighs 550 grams. This is a great item for the zitan collector. Size: L.17.3cm. W.10.3cm. H.2.4cm. A pottery jar glazed with a green lead glaze. Half of it is still green while the other half has oxidized to a silvery iridescent color. The variance in color is due to how the piece was buried and the effect of moisture getting under the surface of the glaze and "lifting" it to give it the pearl-like sheen. A Cizhou black-glazed Yuhuchun vase was beautifully decorated with spiral flowers on the body.
By a fine shape and well preserved condition, the vase was verified as a dated piece by the characteristics of the padding residue left at the foot ring and the enduring old russet glaze.
Some burial adhesives were observed.
And some stardust-like incursions had happened to the glaze, under the flaring lip of the mouth rim...

Description: A Yueyao covered jar was rarely found with dated inscription of The 25th Year of Saoxing period(AD1155). By a fine pale-green glaze applied all over the surface, the jar was fitted with an interesting cap which imitating the roof of a Chinese building. Other motifs were those like the counting scale by the Chinese characters and the Chinese couplets of –“ The Warehouse is always full, The Selling Store is always open”. It was a fine jar, an interesting piece indeed...
Description: A Zitan brush-rest was beautifully carved as a trove of Linzhi plant. Rested on a fitted boxwood stand from which the patina was in warm old condition and was preserved with the dirt residue due to age, this piece was in perfect condition. A nicely carved jade pig done in the Han style. Pigs represent prosperity and jade pigs were were placed in the hands of the deceased. A black-glazed Jizhou bowl was preserved in a fine condition.
By a beautiful grayish image of freely painted plum branch in the cavetto against the black ground, the tea bowl was mold in a typical Wan shape when standing by a flat foot ring which was a strong characteristic for a Jizhou bowl.
The buff-tinted soft-feel paste revealed at the bottom was another obvious characteristic for this dated ware.

A very unusual round Ming huanghuali box with a lid. The lid's center has a burl wood center of huanghuali. It is very rare to see burl wood huanghuali in huanghuali pieces. This is the only one I have ever seen.
Size: Diameter: 15.5cm. H: 9 cm.
Condition: One old small repair (see photo), a natural age crack on one side (see photo) and a small chip at the bottom rim.
A nice famille jaune bat motive tea cup. It has a Tonzhi seal mark both on the cover and the base of the cup and is of the period.
A minor manufacturing flaw on the cover (photo 2)and five hair lines as shown in the photos 4 and 5. two with stain and the other can be seen at certain angle only. Other than that, it is in fine condition, no chip or repair.

A nicely carved natural amber pendant of the hand of Buddha citron with a hole at the top so it can be worn as a pendant. The citron fruit may be given as a religious offering in Buddhist temples. According to tradition, Buddha prefers the "fingers" of the fruit to be in a position where they resemble a closed rather than open hand, as closed hands symbolize to Buddha the act of prayer. Description: A Ming Longquan Li-typed censer was kept in very fine condition. Well mold and heavily glazed, the tripod censer was in typical lake-green tint when whitish ridges were on the body along everted feet. Charming crackles, pinpoints condition and darken hue in portions verified it a true old piece. Brownish red was obvious in the center of the cavetto where the body clay was revealed...
This pair of Kingfisher hair ornaments are from my personal collection. The kingfisher bird feathers are in very good condition and the ornaments are 4 inches across at their widest point. Each piece has its original hair pin attached to the paper back with a wire.
